Question Attention Aussies - Leather jackets down under

A question for aussies.

Where did ya get ya leather jackets from?

I've had a Mars brando for a few years and its startin' to fall to pieces so I'm in the market for a new one and would like some feedback on other brands.

I don't want a Harley jacket coz they're just too bloody expensive and they're made in china anyway.

What style of jacket Phil..??

I went away from Brando style jackets years ago......they dont work for me.....I like the touring/race jackets for comfort and protection....

I got a good deal on jacket and pants when I bought a bike a few years ago....Alpinestars stuff....good leather, good fit...zip out liner....removable elbow, shoulder and back protectors.Good for winter and summer riding.I've given it a hard time and it's as good as new......

The shop in Ringwood next to A1 Motorcycles has always given me good deals......discontinued lines and the specials bins are the go cos your a "tight ass" like me.....

Being so close to Melbourne tho I'd keep an eye on the trading post for a 2nd hand bargain....

This is my jacket.........not the prettiest thing in the world.........but then again......neither am I......

I like the brando style but not so much for the looks. Its more for the overlapping flap thing in the front. Great for keepin' the cold out in winter.

But I also like the more sports oriented jackets for the armour and stuff.

I've tried on a bunch of sport jackets recently and I can't find one thats long enough. They all go half way up ya back when ya sit down so I figure they are off the list.

This is another style of jacket I like..

Mars leathers has a similar thing but with quilted stitching on the padded areas. Still a bit short though. Although I spose I could ask 'em to make me a longer version.

Anyway I haven't been to Ringwood for a look yet so I'll make that my next point of call

I used to sell alot of those touring type jackets when I had the shop.

R Jays....Rivet and A&P in the mid to lower end price bracket.....no zip out liners tho so they get a bit hot in the summer.

Honda World in Berwick had alot of stuff last time I was in there too.

Gronk,

I bought a First Gear jacket from these folks at a very low price. If they'll ship to you they have very low prices on closeout merchandise. http://motorcyclecloseouts.com/

Thanks for those links. They have some nice jackets and good prices too.

But they are not in Australia so I would be buying something without trying it on first. No good if the jacket arrived and it didn't fit.

Best I keep my clothing purchases in OZ

I understand but if the shipping costs weren't too high and the price was right it might be worth a go. Their return policy is outstanding. Good luck.

I dont know if you get to Sydney much but there is a guy who runs a shop called Gypsie leather who, as I understand it, will make you what you want. Ive heard really good things about them. Pricing is supposed to be good too.

Now, I have bought my husbands jacket there but it was an Arlen Ness all weather type. We got a great price on that. I cant personally vouch for his work, but Ive heard good things from several people. Ive been meaning to go back to get some work done on my seat.
