Was kidding about the chainsaw oil, I used redline MTL in the FXDC primary before, just over the marketing. And anything that won't make the clutch slip is fine.

And always a synthetic gear oil in my FXDC gearcase. Have used redline pepto bismol, good cushion.
I've heard good things about spectro so next time I think I'll try it.

In the sporty primary/gearcase I put the bel ray sportster specific primary oil.

Neutral seems to find itself a little better than whatever the P.O. was using

A lot of Uly owners run synthetic; some don't. Some synthetic oil manufacturers claim their oils lower engine temperatures but I've never seen any objective data to confirm it.

Sounds strange, but as owner both of Uly and good ol' Silverado I'm not that enthusiastic about this hours long BikeWrenching and CarWrenching as I call it. I'm a big fan of HD Formula+ transmission oil. It's supposedly semi-synthetic. It's what the factory recommends, and it shifts noticeably smoother than 20W-50 engine oil in my experience.

Is it really? First time I've heard that.

Walmart makes a synthetic V-Twin oil

Super Tech Full Synthetic 20W-50 V-Twin

As long as you replace your oil with clean oil, I'm good with it.

HD formula + is a mineral gear oil according to oil analysis over on bitog.com. Nothing special about it. Group II I believe.

Rotella T6 100% synthetic. I use it in my truck and all my bikes from 1941 to 1996.
