Default Rare As Hens Teeth? (Stock Parts Secondhand)

Is it just my experience, or do certain stock parts just never seem to go up for resale?
When I rode back in the 80's you could locate almost any bike part in a few days max!

I've been in search of a rear wheel for my 883 for WEEKS, and located exactly 0.
Have the motorcycle salvage/graveyards of my youth gone by the wayside?

It's sad, but I think all indie stuff (old timers who could fix stuff, used parts, small shops) are going away.
I lived in San Diego area, Kennedy's Cycles in Oceanside had the "back room" which was full of used parts. Don't know if it still is.

If that’s Pat Kennedy, he moved down by Bisbee, AZ a long time ago. Pretty much right after Kali did the helmet law.

I found another way to get used vintage parts. Browse Craigslist ads for project bikes that are compatible with the model/year you need.
Offer the seller to buy just the specific part you want.
I have acquired many parts this way.

If you're in San Diego area, there's a guy named Tatro, years ago had a shop on Pacific Hwy I think, now is somewhere else, he has youtube videos too.

I went to Kennedy's Custom Cycles in Oceanside in the late 90's when I was endlessly fixing my shovelhead Loved the "back room", a parts heaven.
