I've always went by eye sight on worm clamps.
Allow it to pinch the hose but not enough to bunch it out the slots on the band.
A worm clamp pulled too tight will work unless under the wrong circumstances.
Too tight and it'll break the tabs holding the screw housing on it (any connector).
Too tight AND against a barbed corner, the corner cuts into the hose (single barb connector).
Any clamp should not be installed directly next a barb (single barb connectors).
Any clamp on a multiple barbed connector cannot be pulled as tight as on a single barb connector.
The top of the barbs under the connector mash and cut into the hose.
I only use multiple barbed hoses for light pressure stuff.

I don't know what you're including in the video, but an explanation of the purpose of the clamp would be a good idea. I like to explain the principle of stuff so the student can use the knowledge more broadly than just giving a specific rule for a specific situation.

In my opinion,

The clamp is to prevent the hose from sliding off, not to adhere it to the fitting tube. When the hose is properly sized to the tube (fitting/nipple/pipe) and the tube has a barb or bulge in it, then the hose seals to the tube on it's own. The clamp is placed 'behind' the barb or bulge. Then, with minimal compression, the clamp prevents the hose from sliding back off the tube by preventing the hose from expanding to get back over the barb or bulge.

If you have just a straight tube (no barb or bulge) then additional tightening (compression) will be necessary to create sufficient friction in order for the hose to grip the tube. A clean tube helps to develop the necessary friction and it is very critical to have the hose match (or a smidge smaller than) the size of the tube. But the clamp should not be used to squeeze an oversize hose down to the size of the tube.

Where the hose is removed and reconnected repeatedly, even a hose that was originally right-sized will expand and lose some of it's sealing ability. That's when folks usually try to overtighten the clamp to compensate for the loss of sealing.

Maybe some of that thinking process would be useful in the video...

Seeing what the screw type clamps do/can do to hose {including back off} I run fuel injection clamps.

Also run double wrapped zip ties some places.
