Default RIBSTER PRIMARY? 2004 up vs 2001?

Hey all, it’s nice to be back as I’ve been away for years.

I’m contemplating buying a really sweet 1200 - 2001 Sporty Custom.

Already mapping out customization, I thought I’d grow out of that itch but - looks like never! Lol!

I came across “RIBSTER primary cover” for 04 and up. They only list it for 04 and up......?

What is the difference between a 2001 primary cover and the 2004? Is there a mod to make it work on a 2001?

The cam cover is listed for a 2001 range so I’m good there, except I have to have it chrome plated at an additional cost....;(

Thanks in advance for anyone who can help me with their expertise,

Again - so good to be back!

The 01's have 4 screws in a cross pattern (+), and anything over 03 I believe is 5 screws.

If you're talking about the EMD primary cover, I believe they also do a version for the solid mount (2003 and earlier) bikes. In fact, I think they made that first, and then went on to do a rubbermount version later.

Thank you Lone Rider, IXL2relax, and Folkie, I appreciate the information very much. Those will be the finishing touches on this go round on my new bike.

Once I acquire the cover I’ll go to work on then refining the rather rough dull finish they have. I’ll have the polished to a mirror finish and then get them chromed. Will be deadly looking! Can’t wait!
