Thanks again!

So using two 0.065 washers gives you .130 -.125 = +.005 proud.
Still need to install tranny and check endplay.
Spec in FSM .004-.009

Maybe, maybe not.

You use whatever combination of two #45 washers is needed to give the right spacing between countershaft 1st and the gear next to it. (countershaft 3rd). The manual spec is .038 to .058". The final position of countershaft 3rd needs to be established first.

There's good info in this sticky "transmission assembly, tutorial w/pics"

I’m preparing to put the trans together and the above tutorial is great.
I’m just wondering if I can measure clearances without the thrust washers and then figure out which I need? I’m trying to avoid buying a bunch of different size washers that aren’t needed, if at all possible. The washers themselves are pretty darn cheap, but shipping costs the same if not more than the part itself. Costs if this build are adding up and I’m trying to keep them as low as possible.
Or is how I described above the proper way to do it?!
