possibly.years ago i thought i'd try the roller chain adjuster nylon? .the first one i used grease on the shaft for lubrication.it didn't last long at all.the roller melted and seized.the second time i drilled 2 holes 180 degrees apart for oil lube.that lasted but i replaced the roller with the oem shoe because that small diameter roller made my trans.whine.swap out the roller.whine is gone for good.

That sounds like chain wax. I inherited a 55 gallon drum of that years ago and it still sits on my patio. A guy I knew that made enclosed compression springs for garage doors used to dip the springs into it before assembly. When he closed (because garage door companies ran him out of business. His springs were lifetime and didn't go flying if they broke, they just stayed contained with a broke spring and continued to work theoretically). I used to use it on my dirt bike chains but I never did take the time to repackage this and give it away to people so it still sits. As chain lube for bikes they used to sell it in squeeze bottles.

Anyway, I think dry would be an issue. I would continue to look for a way to oil it between races.

The Turbo bike ran a wet primary it was trouble free.
Here are a couple of photos of the bike that was to replace the Black one. It looks like Robert has made the transmission an independent unit like you described Gene. He has all of the Sputhe stuff for a 1350 Evo.
