Idiots Guide to Uploading & Displaying Images
For those who, like me, struggled with getting images embedded into posts, here is a step-by-step guide to posting from the Forum's Image Gallery (for those who don't have a hosted web site of their own). Thanks to flathead, maddog, and others who are savvy:
UPLOADING
1. Identify the image you wish to upload to your area on the "XL Photo Gallery" found on the upper left of the main Forum Home Page. Resize that image using some software package of your own (there are many, and some form usually comes installed on new computers) to something on the order of 600x400 pixels. Save this to some place on your machine where you can find it (sounds silly, but...).
2. Click on the XL PHOTO GALLERY LINK. In the very upper righthand corner, log in using your user name and password.
3. Next, in the same general area where you logged in to the photo gallery, click UPLOAD PHOTOS. Click on the BROWSE button and locate the file you wish to add (now you know why remembering where you put it was important?!). Then click on the bottom button UPLOAD/SUBMIT. The image will then upload.
4. Add a title and any comments, and click PROCESS IMAGE. That takes care of the uploading.
EMBEDDING THE IMAGE INTO A THREAD
1. Write the text you wish to include in a new message or reply to a message and use the ADVANCED option for either of these choices.
2. When you are ready to embed the image, go to that image in your IMAGE GALLERY. (HINT: I find that opening a second window in Explorer JUST to work on images is useful. Then I don''t lose my place in the message I am composing and I don't have to go back and forth constantly.) Click on the image you wish to embed so that you see a larger image than the thumbnail.
3. RIGHT CLICK the image. You'll notice a series of choices. Click on PROPERTIES. You will be opening a window that has, among other details, the ADDRESS of your photo. Highlight that address by dragging your mouse across the entire http:// address, and COPY it.
4. Return to your message. Highlight the yellow IMAGE icon. When the address window appears, PASTE (CTRL-V) the address of your picture file into that window, and you should be all set.

Wow! Thanks for the instructions.....I printed them for reference. What a great picture for your bike!! I would love to see what it looks like when done. You might have to do to your bike what OCC did to their latest bike--add a shark fin and some teeth.

cypher-
I'll probably pass on the fin and teeth, but I'm having some custom engraving (based on the same photo) done to the air cleaner... It's a "work in progress" (but aren't they all?!), and, as soon as some of the tin comes home, I'll post updates. Been a labor of love, to be sure!
