Default XR1000 streettracker project

Pretty new to this forum so I havenīt got the hang of it yet, but as this section is covering XRīs Iīll post this stuff here.

I was encouraged by a fellow XR1000 owner to post some picīs so I guess Iīll just have to bring the camera with me to the shop more often so the build will be covered in this thread. For now, I only have some crappy shots to share but they will have to do for now.

Anyway, this is the frame. An XR-750 replica made in Sweden. Itīs been used for road racing so all those brackets have been cut off. Looks quite authentic and itīs from chrome moly so itīs light. The Sportster frame feels to be made of lead in comparsion. Ceriani 35mm from a MV Agusta 750 (1970 I belive) with a Yamaha racing hub and an Akront 18'' x 2.15'' rim.

Engineīs been sitting on the bench for awhile, so itīs time to get things going.

Here it is on wheels with the engine in place. Iīm not going to use the plastic tank but one from aluminium.
Rear wheel is a Barnes style quick change/knock off hub with an Akront 18'' x 3.50'' rim. Shocks are S&W. Oil tank (just thrown in there) is a Swedish made replica of an XR-750 flattrack tank. You guys who know your business will see that the filler is on the opposite side to an original tank.

This is how the XR engine was dressed up before I got the idea of making me a "tracker" so thatīs why it says "XR1000" on the seat/fender on the Sportster. All of a sudden I found myself having two bikes, but Iīm not complaining....

Like I said, Iīll try to get some good shots during the build but please donīt expect me to be in a hurry. Iīm not a young man anymore and things have a way of taking double the time than one is planning anyway.

Thanks for looking.
