Default 88ci Buell M2

HAMMER / Axtell 88ci Kit
HAMMER PERFORMANCE Sledge Head Porting Service
Red Shift 723 Cams
Custom Exhaust
S&S Super D carburetor

This is a race bike built for the AHDRA "Hot Street" class. Hot street rules have a spec gas that effectively limits compression, and they don't allow raised ports, nor do they allow Ti rods or multiple carbs or anything like that. They actually have a template they put into the intake port to make sure you didn't raise it, or raise the floor above the level of an XB head's floor. So it's a bit of a challenge to make big power within their rules, although HAMMER Dan seems to have a handle on it

The pipes on this bike were designed for top end power only. Note how the torque peak is at 6500 rpm ... horsepower is torque times rpm, so to make a big horsepower number, you do things to move the torque peak to the right, which is another way to say you optimize cylinder fill at high rpm. This pipe design does that at the expense of low/mid range power, which is inconsequential in this kind of racing. It's reverting very badly on the left side of the chart, and the cams have a lot of overlap so the reversion is playing hell with the motor. But it doesn't matter for this application.

We were having trouble with the tach pickup on this day (we've since replaced it). Since I didn't have one clean pull where the tach pickup worked properly through the whole rpm range, I plotted 3 similar pulls to fill in the gaps.

It's all Hammer Dan's work, he did the whole thing. I might've calculated the pipe dimensions for him is all.

Those cams are 4 speed cams and they never made a 4 speed Buell M2 so I would say they are most likely S&S cases.
