Default 2017 Triumph Bobber - TBob

So I got myself a new Triumph Bobber and am bit by bit making her my own.
Step one was to give her a name. TBob she is.

Out of the factory she looked like this:

Step two was to add more black bits. So she now looks like this:

Step three was to ride and enjoy her some.
She is so easy to ride. She's nimble and nippy; her clutch is nice and light; suspension rides well; she's got bunches of torque and surprises me by still rolling on in sixth on the highway. Awesome fun in and around town. I've been sneaking out on her for coffee and brekky in the early mornings and whenever I want to run some errands.

I just need to be mindful of her brakes after getting off Nyx or out of my pony as they aren't as "instant" as these other rides. A couple of times now I've had "increased heartrate moments" as I've underestimated the effort required at the lever. She stops just fine and the ABS works as designed. It is simply me being used to more immediacy in terms of brakes.

She's also not that comfortable for cruising for a few hours at 110ish kms/hr on the open highway; her nakedness creates quite a bit of wind resistance. Clip-ons to bring me closer to the tank may improve that (and make playing even more fun), but then I'd want to complement that with rear sets or at least a rear set of foot rests. Overall, Nyx is much better suited for highway runs and for those times when I need to, ummmmm... empower myself again (I think that's probably the best description of that feeling).

So riding her over the past few weeks has given me some priorities for those further modifications, but first a purely aesthetic mod...

Step four is to "orange-ify" her. That is happening as I write this as I dropped her tins with the painter Monday. I'll be picking them up mid January. I was inspired a bit by the limited edition "caffeine" paint set that they are doing for the sportsters at the moment and melding that into a more traditional Triumph graphic layout.
Try to envision a cross between these:

The tins will have a gold base with checkers in light and dark gold in a fairly traditional Triumph arc on the tank with candy-apple orange over the golds. Then as a checkered stripe fading from front to rear on the fenders. I should be getting update photos as the tins progress so I'll update the thread as they come to hand.

Step five will be the brake upgrade, coupled with suspension adjustments to prevent too much dive. But that won't start till next year now. It will be a mix of Bonneville T120 parts and Freespirits parts.

So I'll upgrade this thread as she evolves and as I enjoy her more.

New stuff is always fun to beat on and put away wet.

Have fun with T-Bob.

Looking forward to seeing the "Orangified" version. You've an eye for beauty. I'm sure it will be proven again on TBOB.

Yes, I'm resisting for the moment as I have a bike well suited for that purpose, but time will tell
