Default Parade flag holder

I searched the forum with no success for a flag holder for a large (3 x 5) flag. Any ideas? I have an 03 with a sissy bar, no luggage rack, and I ride two-up.

I got mine on ebay, it was about $50 for 2 flags and the mount, it mounts on the license holder frame

Perhaps an attractive bikini clad young lady to hold the flag?

Sorry, no better answer but I could not resist.

Do any of the Patriot Guard riders on the forum have something?

I am a Patriot Guard Rider, and wanted to fly a big flag. I made a bullet proof holder from PVC reinforced with a wooden dowl. I use bungee cords to stabilize it, but basically it sits on the passenger pillion and leans up against the sissy bar. I can ride at 65MPH with a 3x5 flag with no problems (I don't even know it's there). My sister made a nice "sock" that slips over the flag (wrapped around the flagpole) when I am going to/from a mission.

I'll try to remember to post a picture.

A friend of mine who rides with the Patriot Guard built one out of PVC and attaches it to a passenger peg, and uses a couple of zip ties to secure it:

Thanks for all the replies, guys. No help so far. The passenger pegs are in use (that would be Debbie) and the license frame is no longer there; I have a side frame off the axle. Thanks any way, all. And the PGR forum wasn't any help either.

I've run 2 3x5' flags from my sissy bar, but don't have a "mount" per se. I just used a LOT of nylon cord and went round and round and round. Was also hoping there was a good answer here, as I need to do this several times a year.

I flew a 3'X5' MARINE CORP flag a few times. I used a some extension legs I had from a product we used to make at the company I worked for. My flag was high and extended past the back of the bike, it was in such a positition that it could not hit my head (block my vision), it could not touch the ground and it could not get in my wheel. So usually the guy behind me had to watch out for it and allow more space than with other flag bearers. I could not go high speed with it because of the legs I was using as a pole. I feared they would bend or break. But I could disconnect it in half, roll up the flag and affix it to the part of the pipe that stayed on the bike and then cover it all and secure it with velcro. There was a section of pipe that stayed on the bike during all of this it was big enough for the pole to slide into. I didn't have a special holder, just that pipe. I started the pipe around the down by the passenger peg. A hole in the pipe and few zip ties anchored that end of the pipe so it could not slide down toward the peg or toward the ground. The zip ties were around something there.. I know it wouldn't get in the belt guard. The upper part of that pipe was secured to the side of my back rack with zip ties. I don't have any pics of how it was done. I found a picture of the bike with the flag on it:

The problem is now with the tour pack on back, the pak hangs over the side of the bike and there is no way for me to mount the flag the way I did before except using the pak. I have to take the pak off and I really like the pak on so it rarely comes off.

If you have a sissy bar, I would suggest you see if you can anchor one end in the area of the axial nut and then the next up on the sissy bar. What ever you do remember that a flag loose on the ground is a huge hazard for bikes behind you.

I have seen where they have a back porch welded for the rear fendor and it has inserts for flag poles. I have had a rear fender buckle on me, and just my saddlebags caused it, not near the force seen with them as with a flag at high speed.

Maybe try looking for a trailer hitch attachment and then modify it to be a reciever for a flag pole.

Don't know if I was any help or not. Good Luck.
