Default Sealing new gas tank

Just bought a wide 4+ gal tank for my 2003 sporty, and it actually fits. I give up a reserve tank, but figure it's worth it for the extra gallon of capacity.
Has anyone ever "sealed" a new tank. Tips for me? (the advice kind...not gratuities)

Many people try that cream coat, once until they find it starts to peel after a year or two.

We've found an excellant alternative, a product called "Red Coat"

It's a transparent red laquer substance, very good stuff. Your local radiator repair shop should have some. It's the best stuff we've ever used.

We used Pour-15 (search on web). Bought ours at a Ducatti dealer. Worked much better than the cream. Has a couple of different steps. Probably took two hours to do max and then let set up for 24 hours. Not cheap but seemed to work very well (approx $40). Think all we needed was a slop sink for rinse and a couple of pipe plugs for tank and a gas cap.

Por-15 here too. used it in other vehicles and just did my new tank for the ironhead. Make sure when your done that you leave the tank open to cure.
