Default Buell Front End Install

Well I went and did it. Purchased a complete 98S1 White Lightning front end off ebay. It's complete from the grips to the tire.

If anyone knows any pitfalls to installing this on my Sportster please feel free to speak up now.

The install may have to wait a few weeks as I have family obligations right now. However when I get started I will try to photograph the process and post my results and impressions when finished.

Wish me luck, Chris

I have wanted to do this. What about tube length? Longer tubes on cartridge forks is something I have not done. The Neck on the XL is WAY higher than the Buell.

better brakes, better forks, and I want to put the Buell wheels on my Sportster so I will have 17" rims front and back.

This should also let me put on a traditional speedo/tach cluster on the bike that the current 883 Custom riser will not allow.

Currently doing research on the steering head bearings, from what I can find they are identical to the Sportster bearings, so as long as the neck is the same length it should be a bolt-on.

The next phase will be a new swingarm to put the Buell rim on the rear.

I have a vision of what I want my bike to be and am following it as money and time allow.

And last but not least.................because I can

You got an ebay link, or at least a pic of what you got? I'm curious (and a little bit excited for you too). If it's a Bolt-on, then I need to know what to look for!
