Default Powder coat carb

Does anyone have a parts diagram for the Keihin carb on a 04 sportster. I have started disassemly to powder coat. Would like to know where any rubber o-rings are, so they can be removed.

Thanks

David

As long as everything is masked up, should be no problem. I have seen alot of carbs for cars powder coated....I do the work myself, so I know how to properly mask areas.

That looks Great!

What kind of green tape is that (specifically)?

The green tape is a special high heat tape designed for powder coating....It can withstand curing temps above the needed 400 degrees.

Hey raptor what did you use to clean the carb before masking...did you blast it, or just use carb cleaner? I ussualy prep with a good degreaser..." ZEP purple degreaser" than a complete wipe down with deantured alcahol, and then burn it with mapp gas torch to get rid of lint.

Whats your process because that carb looks SWEET

Oh and is that the black wrinkle from columbia, and if so how does it match up with the harley wrinkle?

Yea thanks, I used a good carb cleaner on it, and heat it up to outgas it....

The powder is extra fine texture black from absolute powder coating. The black wrinkle from columbia is a much more leathery type surface. This texture matches pretty good with the texture harley uses on the block, except it has a satin finish and won't catch a nail like the really rough sand paper like stuff harley uses. It is much easier to wipe down and clean. So it has a more gloss than the block. The biggest thing as you know is masking things off cleanly. I over tape everything then come back with a number 11 xacto blade a trim out all the gasket surfaces. This makes for a clean job. Also I use the high temp plugs for any holes.

Here is another shot of it.

Nice job.. I have coated a lot of carbs.. Mostly Webers, some cycle carbs, a few holleys. It's a bit of work but the outcome is really nice.
