Default T-roy's Buell Chopper Blog

So here is what I've done so far:

(1) Got a User name in the XLforum
(2) Looked around at some great Buell chops on XLForum
(3) Currently working on 15 posts
(4) Got a frame in mind (from Red Barron - I like the style of Jeff Blair's Weapon 250 Buell Chop), looking for a donor Buell V-twin, and got a budget of (is it ok to post this?). I was offered by a local Chop shop to have one built for me for $18,000-$20,000. I think I want to try to do one cheaper and do some of the work myself and to post my progress.
(5) Since I have support on this site (at least it looks as if you are all willing to help and make suggestions for my lack of knowledge) I wouldn't mind to know if anyone on here does their own custom work. Like a custom oil tank, or leather seats, or anything fabricated (I am also known as T-bone so skull and X bones are my thing). I will do everything I can to "pay back" the help I get on this forum.

I will keep the 2nd post for future pix of the build. Thanks All!
T-roy

You can only edit a post for a short time. It's OK to keep adding your pics to the thread. From what I've read you only need 5 posts now to load your photos but you must link them to a web address not to your hard drive.

SEARCH this forum for "Red Baron". I too liked the looks of some of their work, but have learned to 'steer clear' due to customer service, fit, and quality. Of course- I'm just stating what I recall from other threads- but most was bad press.
As for your price tag- SHOUT IT OUT! Hell- I could build you 2 BAD A$$ bobbers for the price you mentioned (and still make a substancial profit at doing it). No- I don't build bikes for a living- just want to point out that anything over $10K is WAAAAYYYY over the top expensive- unless your building a trailer queen (your gonna ride it, right)?
Look at my pic's... then search the forum for other bobbers. Mine total rang in at $6500- and it's totally custom. Sure- it's not for everyone, but if your thinking Red Baron- $10K (MAX!!) should be the ceiling.

Yeah... was thinking the "profit" could ford me another custom in my stable... So that'd be 3 for the price of 1.

Found a '99 1203 M2 Cyclone locally for $3,800. It had some oil on two parts of the engine/tranny that I questioned. He said that all harley engines leak. Having a motorcycle mechanic look at it before I put in a bid. F'n HUGE engine with a good noise. I think $3,800 is a bit much, but is it worth it. What else should I look for?

Thanks

I paid 2800 for my 2001 M2. Motor is sound. There are great deals out there. Just need to be patient and keep your ear to the ground. Craigslist is awesome in my opinion. My buddy just picked up a 91 S1 with a rebuilt motor for 3000. I'm sure location has something to do with it too though.
