Default ECM & PCIII Relocation w/ Pics

Here is how I started.

Pulled out the battery and pulled the wire bundle to the ECM through.

Put back the battery. Strung the ECM between the battery box and the engine. Connected it up.

Zip tied the ECM (left side).

Zip tied the ECM (right side).

Manuever the PCIII and other pieces to make it the best possible fit. This took quite a while and the picture shows the best way I could come up with.

Put back the side panel. It fit in the lower connecter but I had to zip tie the top two connectors. Got really worried here about how far it was sticking out...

Not so bad from a distance...

Actually looks fine w/ the seat...

Side view of my bike because I can...

Last look at the ECM.

great pics. One question aren't you worried that your ecm might get hot sitting right behind the engine? Great looking bike. I just chopped the fender on my 07 olive. I am looking for a place to put the ecm and the fuel pack. Thanks for the pics.

It is actually a fair distance from the engine. I am going to watch it closely though. I may put some kind of heat shield in front of it.

That would seem pretty silly, wouldn't it? I have a seat pan on order and I'll be getting new shocks here shortly.

Not waterproof? Do tell...

Crud. I'll have to figure out a way to make it so. Maybe if I coat it in heat resistant silicone. Thank you vtdrugs for the heads up!

to clarify...the unit itself is waterproof...it's the harness, especially where it attaches to the unit that isn't

Yeah, thats where I figured you had meant.

If you don't mind my asking... did yours get fried due to water?

I'm wondering how much of a hassle they are to replace and at what cost.

Easy enough to replace... have to go through a "pairing process" that takes about half an hour. Cost about $350RRP - available cheaper online. I think I'd be worried about it getting too hot there as well as the water issue.

Thanks sportytrace. I am hoping to find something to wrap it with so it is protected from water and heat.

I now know not only the cost to replace it if it does fry... but also where the heck Wongawallan is!
