Default Rear wheel interchange?

I just bought a 68 XLCH that is a POC. I'd like to bob it including a hard tail. I've read that a 16" with a tall tire helps the ride. Will an 80s 16" rear fit? What will?
Thanks folks.

You can make anything fit anything. If you are bobbing it and installing a hard tail, you can use pretty much any wheel you want assuming you can find an axle and brakes to work with it.
