TSM / TSSM / HFSM - How to disable alarm and/or replace unit
TSM = Turn signal module
TSSM = Turn signal security module (04'-06' with pressable key fob)
HFSM = Hands free security module (07'+ with proximity key fob)
I have gotten a few questions on how-to get rid of / disable the HD security system or how to replace the TSM / TSSM / HFSM altogether.
There are two alternatives to disable the HD security system:
1). Disable the alarm itself .
2). Remove the TSSM / HFSM and replace with a standard TSM.
The following chart is how to disable the HD security system.
If you want to totally replace the TSSM / HFSM with just the TSM, do the following:
1). Open battery cover.
2). Remove the maxi-fuse.
3). Disconnect the negative battery cable from the ground lug on the lower engine case found just in front of the oil tank.
4). Disconnect the positive battery cable from the battery and remove the battery.
5). The TSM / TSSM / HFSM is located in the bottom of the battery tray. From under the rear fender and just in front of the rear tire, push the TSM / TSSM/ HFSM up through the battery tray.
6). Depress the two tangs on each side of the wiring connector and pull free from TSM / TSSM / HFSM.
7). Install wiring connector into new TSM / TSSM / HFSM and reinstall doing the reverse of the procedure listed above.
Follow the chart below for password learn of the TSM / TSSM / HFSM and ECM:
Here is how you check / clear your DTC codes:
1). Turn ignition on with the run/stop switch in the run position WHILE holding down the odometer reset button.
2). When "diag" appears on the speedo release the reset button
3). "PSSPT" should appear with the "P" flashing. These are different sections for DTC's (diagnostic trouble codes):
P = ECM DTC's
S = TSM/TSSM DTC's
SP = Speedo DTC's
T = Tach DTC's
By pressing the reset button once it will scroll through these. By pressing and holding the reset button for 5 seconds it will enter that section for those codes.
4). Press and hold the reset button for 5 seconds to check the code in the section you want.
5). Record the code and hit the reset button for the next code or until it says end. If there are no codes it will say "none".
You can then clear the codes for that section by pressing and holding the reset button for 5 seconds.
6). Press the reset button again...it will scroll a part number of the component section you are in. Hit the reset button again to return to the PSSPT area.
7). Go to the next section to check for DTC's
8). If clearing codes, I suggest going through this procedure again to make sure there are no codes stored.
9). When done...turn the ignition off.

I tried to check for codes on my 09 1200 C as per those instructions and could not get anything to come up while holding the reset button in...
Can't figure what I am doing wrong, no PSSPT or anything, just goes back to the odometer reading...
What am I not doing, Ign. switch is on and the kill switch is in the run position, even tried the full on if I should hit the starter it should start...
Thanks and have a good one...Tater...

You are holding the reset button in WHILE turning on the ignition?
If you need another set of instructions (say the same thing, just a different way), see this thread about How Diag Mode Works...it's the same information, just presented differently.

Tater....yeah you have to have the button pushed in before turning the key and hold it in until the "diag" comes up.

Hi everybody
Sorry about my english, i'm from Lisbon-Portugal.
Today i have replaced the tssm unit to a tsm unit in my 2004 XL1200R, but something was wrong because the security lamp didn't iluminate as shown in the procedure table. The engine light stays on and when i follow the procedure table nothing happens, the bike doesn´t start. What i´m doing Wrong?
