Old Guy, years gone by shots
Digging though photos, I found some from 15yrs ago.
I sure looked better then, this one of me and my 8ft tall, 4000lb, jig bore punching out cases for big bore jugs.
http://s170.photobucket.com/albums/u...onjigborer.jpg
This setup idea, I borrowed/stole from the HD race dept, they used wimpy Bridgeport mills.
These Kmodel cases are fixed and centered to a machine rotary table by the bearing main journals, making deck work, easy, square, and accurate.
The cutting head is a 5" Wohlhaupter Facing/Boring head, thus the need for the heavy machine.

Here are some shots of cutting oring grooves on cylinder bases, to get away from base gaskets, if wanted. This how Merch did it, HD cut the groove or step in the cases on the TC.
First here is the lathe face plate, with an aluminum disk mounted, it was then stepped to locate the cylinder by its bore.

All snugged up and cutting the oring groove. This can be done to any cylinder if wanted.

lots of fun!
I am working on some photos of crankshaft break down.
Also, my mail box was full and I deleted every thing by mistake, if I didnt get back to you try again.

Great pics, brought back old memories. I use to set-up and run Miyano CNC machines with hydralic bar feeders, most were BNC34T, but also was a JNC45T. Working on these was a thrill compared to the old Brown & Sharpe and Warney Swazey screw machines.

Iron Mick told how to better post photos, I will see what happens.
Rascal, I ran W&S turret lathe decades ago, I decided then I didnt like production work,
and realized I am just a fixit guy.
Harleys are a good challenge, like, how am I going to hold that part!

Here is my try at more photos.
Another view of the old shop
Wow works, Thanks Mick!
Another direction, old Kmodel engine on hand truck, dealing with those explains the machines, a piece ends up on every machine.
Sunnen hone, nice for HD stuff, doing conrod here, the mandrels in the tray do cylinders, tappet guides, valve guides and more.
One of my favorites, Hardinge Hand Chucker. Got this from Nothrup Grummun LA, they used for Tom Cat production. In the spindle is the HD rod lap, I did the last .0002" to get the goood finish. The chucker does valve seat sizing valve guides and more, real fast machine compared to a regular lathe, as the tools are set up on the turret at the ready. These machine go dirt cheap these days.
Doing rod bearing sizing, I gaged ever one, and inspected each under a magnafier, ended mystery rod bearing failure.
Timken main bearing end play spacer, I just bought the over size ones and ground them on this little Harig surface grinder, always had the the right size that way.

Wow, that is a serious toy box you got there. You could make damn near anything with that set-up.

Yes, in reality to fix antique engines, I ended up with the equipment that is capable of carving an entire engine out of solid metal.
It would take 1000s of hours, so, that will never happen.
