Default piston hitting valve

As I stated in an earlier post to someone who had a strange noise in their motor, sometimes a valve CAN hit the top of the piston and the bike still be running well, as this was...it just had a slight clicking noise when it was hot, and when I tore it down, this was it!! Some folks say it's impossible to get a bike in this condition to run, but here's proof..from my 75 XLH before I rebuilt it.....Ironheads are tough ol' things!!

That is incredible...I think you could publish that in some kind of a text book (i'm not sure how) and maybe collect royalties. I have never seen anything like that!

I've seen some weird things like that. A friend of mine had a car with a noise that turned the top half of the piston was no longer part of the bottom half. Still ran OK but sounded like a rod knock.

I finally understand...you have a '75 and the service manual is 1978 to 19something. If I get a later year service manual for my '65, maybe I'll have better luck also!
