How much lighter do you think this sportster will be when finished?+Do you keep patterns from the mods you make each time so that you could build a second bike for instance?Anyway,I believe that your ideas are nourishment for all the hungry minds in here!!!!!
Keep your dream alive+keep up the good work!

Hey guys, thanks a lot!!!
Back when it had the aluminum oil tank she weighed in at 460lbs wet. Right before I stripped it down to do all the finish welding she weighed in at 396lbs, although I didn't have carb, a full oil tank, or the wiring on the bike. So I'm hoping to be right around 430lbs wet. I'll be really happy if it is less than that.

I made some offset risers so I can lean forward a little more and bring the bars a little closer. This also allows me to slide the 1200S forks up in the tree without hitting the bar. I still need to cut the forward pinch slot but I need to find someone with a mill to profile them for me.
Bar stock

drill bar stock to 7/8

cut pinch slot

drill, counterbore, tap

the forward pinch bolt is actually the riser mounting bolt, drill and counterbore

Here is what they look like on the bike. Just a little more work and I'm stoked. Total time invested so far about 4 hours. Cost so far about 4 bucks. Tools used are drill press, angle grinder and center punch.

that's no longer a sportster. It's a mobster!! Just in case there's any confusion, that means I think it's awesome, in a kind of beautiful pitbull kind of way.

Thanks! Well, the only thing that isn't painted is the fender, the tank is chrome and I plan on chroming the fender to match. Nothing else needs painted.
