:helpsign Anyone put 12" apes on a 2004 1200 Roadster? Know what cables (Part Numbers) are needed? Any help is appreciated. I want to use braided cables and brake line.

Go over to the 2004 Sportster owners group on Yahoo. Do a search on messages for ape hangers. There is a guy that I think put 18 inch apes on his bike. He was able to use all of the existing cables and lines except for the front brake line. He had to do a little plumbing work to make it reach.

He went into detail on what he had to do.
Good luck

I have just bought a second hand 04 883 std with 10.25" ape hangers that were fitted by the previous owner. He had fitted the braided cables as well so I am not sure if the std brake line will fit. He did instal a new clutch cable. I looked a putting the original bars back on until I realised how comfortable the ape hangers are. The cabling for the indicators and the throttle seemed a bit long so I suspect that there was some work done on them although I am not sure if it was changes to the plumbing or if longer runs have been fitted.

I REALLY WOULD AVOID DOING THAT PUTTING 12 INCH APES ON YOUR BIKE...
I MEAN WHAT WILL THEY DO AT STOP SIGNS? THEY WON'T BE ABLE TO TOUCH THE GROUND... :laugh

We put 15" apes on the bobber project. I can get you the part #'s if ya eamil me. Would suggest running the wiring internally when ya do , cleans the bars up a bunch and easy to do. Also the front mstr cyl uses an odd size banjo fitting so we went to a dresser master cyl to handle the dual calipers and built the brake lines using Russell brand Renegade parts and lines to get the black look.
