Some of you have asked for a spell checker and unfortunatly it is not yet possible for me to install a server side spell checker with out seriously affecting webpage load speed.

For those of you who (God forbid) are still using IE you might want to check out ieSpell which is an IE add-on. You will have to install it on you PC and can find it here: http://www.iespell.com .

DISCLAIMER: I have not tried this program since I am not an IE user (thank God) so I do not know how well it works. From what I have read on other forums this is a pretty good product.

BTW - Did I every tell HOW wonderful FireFox is? It is like the Sportster of webrowsers!!

I've got IE and it mostly works ok.

Whats so good about firefox?

And how much does it cost and where do I get it? :)

Firefox costs about $500. You can get it by sending me a check.

JK!!! You can get it for free at www.mozilla.org and the best thing about it is that it is not from Microsoft. It is open source wth means anyone can look ar ethe code and see what it is doing and modify it. It also is not integrated with the OS like IE is.

About 9.5% of the XL Forum users are using FireFox!

I found it upped my daily usage...... how..I don't know...but when I went to firefox full time my usage for that week was over double with IE....

I'm sitting right near the limit of a 2GB a month account...so I can't afford the extra traffic

I'm with Bert, if you are able to use FF then do it. Other than being one of the most trouble free browsers out there, it runs fast, it's very stable, it's easy to use, and best of all it doesn't allow all the spyware, malware, and garbage to get in like IE does.

I've been predominantly using it for a little over a year and it rocks...oh and I've tried Opera and others but none of them cut it like Firefox does!

Strewth 2 GB's is heaps. How do ya run up that amount?

I'm currently usin' about 350 - 400 MB's per month of a 500MB plan so if it ups the usage for me like it did for you then its no good for me.

I don't wanna hafta pay more for a higher usage plan.

But I'm currently readin' a whole bunch of firefox user reviews. Most good. Some bad.

I use MS Word for my spell checker. I type it up in Word, spell check it and then copy and paste.

Firefox is a great browser. Sadly I have to use both IE and Firefox at work 'cause they display differently on the monitor. Would rather just stick with Firefox. It's got some great features and plug-ins. :banana

...and a spell check would be great someday.

Click on "tools" then "options" then the "spelling" tab then check the box that says "Always check spelling before sending"

What Invaliduser suggests is easy - all you have to do is open Word, minimize it, or just downsize that window til it's the size you want (you can stretch it wide use it to cover just the top of the forum screen, so it doesn't cover the text box of XLForum), then type away, spell-check, cut and paste right into your reply box in XLForum. For what it’s worth, it also checks grammar.

After you cut or copy in Word, and click on the reply box, the Word window minimizes, and when you're ready for another reply or new thread, just click on it in the taskbar, and it pops up just as you had it before.

In Outlook Express, when in my inbox, there isn't a "spelling" tab under "tools" then "options". However, when I compose or reply to a message, I click on "tools" and the "Spelling... F7" tab is not an active link.

Firefox has a spell checker here: http://spellbound.sourceforge.net/
Once you load it up with the dictionary, you can place the icon in your task bar and instant spell check! :banana

If you want spell checking, get the Official Google Toolbar http://toolbar.google.com/ for Firefox or Internet Explorer. It has spell checking, search functions, and many other cool features. FREE!!! I use it with Firefox and love it.

I see an "abc check" button in the upper right corner of the "Reply to Thread" message edit box but when I click on it all I get is a pop-up message to download ieSpell. I have down-loaded it but still it doesn't work. Anyone know what I'm doing wrong or does it just not work.
