Just purchased some Old School Tommaselli 3 joint clip-ons. They look great but I didn't read the f :censor in fine print, they're 7/8" bars. Of course "NO RETURNS OR EXCHANGES" Trying to decide on whether to shim to 1" or weld on 1" bar ends, any suggestions? They aren't dimpled for wiring but internal wiring may be a PITA because of the joints/knuckles. Maybe 1" dimpled bar ends welded on? Thanks in advance, any input would appreciated.

I have a pair like that. I shimmed the controls with pvc pipe of the right diameter with a slit cut in it so it can compress around the 7/8 bars. For the wiring I drilled a hole in the conrols where I wanted the wiring to exit and have the wires zip tied to the bars. Seems to me I've heard of some 1" bars being heated and slipped over 7/8" bars. YMMV shoei
P.S.I found the adjustablility of the bars great for finding the perfect position.

yup what he said...
I'd use some 1/16" wall aluminium tube of 1" OD .... and either run a slit up it or heat it up and shrink it on

Thanks guys for the info, I'll check out some shim stock.

You could also find some NOS Buell controls for an okay price on Ebay. They are 7/8" ID If buell uses them I am sure you can figure out the wiring to fit a sporty, not much changes mechanically. Pretty much a sporty and a buell are like Arnold and Danny Devito in Twins. They dont look much alike but are still related.

Thanks Jason for the tip. I'll see if I can modify the controls for now, might have a problem with master cylinder (dual discs). Plus I'm $CHEAP$! I'll keep it mind tho.
Shoei & stevo, great idea about shimming. So I went to the hardware store and picked up 4 feet of aluminium 1" OD tube $3.00, slit about 7" and went to it. Worked great! Modified the clamps for wiring harness.
Went for a 50 mile "round the block" to play with the adjustments. Shoei your'e right, there's a lot of adjustments. I'll see if I got her dialed in if my arms, wrists, back get sore after a long ride, so far I like the riding position.
Thanks everyone for the help.

Hey Marco, where'd you get those round chrome covers on the top triple clamp?

norm, get this; they're 1 1/2" chrome push covers that I found at my local Lowe's Hardware in their cabinet/furniture fittings section. $ 1.25 each. I don't know how long the chrome will hold up but I bought a couple pairs.

glad shimming worked for you. I think you will really like those clip-ons. I still have the harley controls but went to 7/8" grips eventually, they seem to suit me better.
