I'm going to be installing my Python slip-ons and Big Sucker tomorrow but won't be doing the rejet. I'm getting ready to take it in for the 1k service and they are going to do it for me then. Yeah I know I could do it myself but I have a fear of carbs. Stems back to messing the one up on my first street bike around 18 years ago. Anyhoo is there any harm to riding it in the mean time?? If so what would that be??

Out of curiosity, How long until your 1K?

personally i would not do it. your creating a leaner condition than already having on the stock setup which will cause your bike to run hotter which can blue out your pipes in almost no time, and maybee cause other damage as well.

About 40 miles. The 400 miler I did over the wekend took me from break-in to almost 1k in the span of two days.

What are your atmospheric conditions like ???
ie: height above sea level, temps, humidity etc...
is it exhibiting any lean symptoms now????

We are considered below sea level. Temps right now are pretty hot and very humid. I'm not asking if I can ride another 1k miles w/o rejet. I'm just going to be putting back and forth to work (6 miles) and around town until I can get in into the dealership. Just want to make sure even that won't cause harm.
Thanks

If you were up in the mountains..I'd say no probs....
At sea level or below, even with a high humidity and high temp....
Your call ...... I'd wait...

So what would be the potential harm in doing this. Are you saying it shouldn't be run at all until the rejet?? Not even to the dealership??

you can do short runs ...... keep the revs low

Ok thanks Stevo. That is all I planned to do. Like I said to work for a few days which is only 6 miles and then to the dealership which is 10 miles.

It may be fine...but ya gotta sorta look at a worse case scenario.....
If it feels lean, then keep ya choke out a touch

If you have'nt already done it just do the pipes, then do the a/c right before you go in for your 1000 mile service. I'd feel better like that if it were mine.
