Now thats an interesting baby! :D :D :D
Would be on my 'must have' list if I had the cash for it!!!! :D
Here is the link to the french website .... http://www.planete-biker.com/sportster-supermoto.php
flathead45 25th December 2004, 16:34 I likey , but no knobbys ? that can't be much fun
flathead45 25th December 2004, 17:00 I looked at it again and thats a vary small rear sprocket for moto cross. I think its set up for road racing
whiffy 25th December 2004, 21:29 Hey Flathead,
Supermoto is not exactly motoX. Its half road racing and half motoX..
Don't you guys in the states play with supermoto? Could be this is just a euro fad???
Makes for interesting racing, motoX with slicks!

dabronco 25th December 2004, 22:25 It's starting to catch on here somewhat. It's cool to watch! These guys all look like hollywood stunt riders to me.
rstoll 26th December 2004, 00:28 I have seen it a couple times. Love the transition from dirt to asphalt. I would think the broad power band of the Harleys and Ducatis would be more forgiving than the pipey two strokes. Looks like fun.
txsporty 26th December 2004, 02:23 Looks like it might be a Hell of a Hill-Climber with some Knobbies and a shorter front end!!! :D
Desertfox 26th December 2004, 05:13 Indeed, can't moto with the tires, can't road race with the frame. Neither fish nor foul. Don't really know what to make of it. Looks like it was designed to do too many things.
dwardy 26th December 2004, 05:32 Gawd, that thing is hideous.
whiffy 26th December 2004, 16:30 Supermoto is a bit like flat track racing (most of the time the riders are sideways), with some tarmac as well as dirt. and with right hand corners thrown in for good measure. It is really fun to watch those4 mad ba%^&ards....looks too hairy for me!
rstoll, most of these bikes are single 500-650 singles, no two strokes. The KTM twin may be fun!
Go see some if you can....
Whiffi.

Two strokes aren't that pipey when they run the 500s..almost like the powerband of a 4 stroke...and the 500 two strokes make the same hp as a 1200 sportster.

There are plenty of two stroke super moto racers...usually with KX500s and CR500 motorcross bikes. Unless it has changed drastically since the last time I looked at it.
missyd 27th December 2004, 12:19 Supermoto is cool! I like to see these guys (and girls) drift around the racetrack. More interesting than roadracing or MX! ;)
I also saw some riders with SuperMotos on normal roads going around twisties like they had a rattlesnake in their pants!!!
A KTM rider told me that his rear tire was good for max 2000kms!
pquirk 27th December 2004, 15:49 As always, to each his own, so here's my own: Supermoto is goofy. Maybe the Euro version is different, but here it seems like a bunch of retired motoXer's and neverbeens who couldn't make either the motoX or road circuit. Maybe I'm just old fashioned. I liked down hill ski racing before there there was skierX, and mountain biking before there was "dual slolom", and Scooby Doo before they had "guest stars" and the Brady Bunch before there was couisin Oliver. Sheesh, is this progress? All those "new sports" are just ways to take the good ol' stuff and make it TV friendly so a bunch of corporate moguls can get rich. Although it does look like fun. I gotta say though, that's gotta be one of the ugliest bikes ever to wear a V-twin, what would David Mann think about that thing :cry1 ? That's no bike, it's a gizmo; and like I always say, "everyone's entitled to my own opinion :tour .

And I love it :laugh
Always like to see people developing machines and its good that motorbike racing is developing into new directions like Supermotard. I took a mates KTM for a race round the block a while back and they are a scream to ride
