Whats up,
I live in Boyertown, PA (western Montgomery co). I'm 25yrs old and just bought my fist bike this past spring, its a 08' XL1200N blk/slvr. I have a lot of plans for it but little money so know-how is key because I plan on doing most of the work myself. I didn't know much about motorcycles but have always had a strong passion for them so after a while of saving and planing i was finally able to buy the sporty i wanted (a reliable one because I'm a newbie and its my everyday ride). So here are my plans, let me know what you think about some of the things that I "can't decide" on, and any suggestions or tips on installation and tear down procedures. Thanks!
Thing I've done to it:
-removed belt guards
-removed pulley cover
-removed slip-on mufflers
-added home-made baffles out of washers, bolts, and nuts
-flipped mirrors
Things I plan on doing to it:
-remove front fender
-add a fork brace
-remove fork boots
-add Lick's dog bone base riser with Lick's 4" bog bone risers in black with broomstick bars or with 4" z-bars in black; or just Biltwell low drags in black (can't decide?)
-relocate front indicator lights to triple tree
-relocate the speedo
-remove headlight visor and remount headlight to triple tree
-raise the tank/ hide wires
-relocate ignition and coils
-paint the tank in a metallic-geometric-retro style, or strip it, rough sand it, spray paint HARLEY-DAVIDSON on it with a small stencil, and clear coat it (can't decide?)
-add Lick's high performance Sportster air cleaner in black / re-map and it
-power commander
-remove chrome heat shield from exhaust / heat wrap pipes, tan
-add Biltwell's ignition cover in gray, or just ditch the ignition cover all together (cant decide?)
-remove stock seat / add Biltwell's chromoly seat hinge with Biltwell's solo seat in the black tuck & roll style - with no springs, just bushings / keeping rear suspension
-relocate ECM near battery
-chop rear fender supports
-relocate rear indicator lights near rear axle (suggestions on parts for this?)
-remove stock rear fender / add West Eagle Motorcycle's 5.75" ribbed rear fender; shortened and painted black or rough sanded and clear coated (can't decide?)
-add custom sissy bar
-relocate license plate behind the primary using a custom bracket
