Anybody put a spring seat on an 04-05? I am looking at the slim one from Licks. Will this seat move my sitting position back from the stock 883L seat? If not, how about the Le Pera bare bones? Thanks.

I'm interested in a spring seat too, but don't have one. The only one that I've heard that has (is getting one) is Gordy. I'm not sure if he put it on yet though. You might try private messaging him. You can PM him through this link http://www.xlforum.net/forums/member.php?u=163.

How about a spring seat and rigid struts on a sporty?

Now thats a die hard rider. A local in my area has that setup
on a 03 model. The bike has the paugho pipes that are up swept
with a springer front end on it, and get this he runs rigid
struts instead of having shocks on his bike. I guess the spring
seat is all the shocks he needs.

The rigid struts will let you drop your rear end down to where the fender is just about touching the tire. Looks kinda cool being all low like that, but if your going to go rigid it seems like you ought to do a real hardtail frame. It looks a whole lot better and you might as well look as good as you can if you're going to put your back through that much stress.

a ridged will ride rougher than a hardtail , the frame of a hardtail will flex and a strutted swing arm is not going to flex

I know , I've ridden both and its a noticeable differance

That sporty looks great! Very similar to the look I am going for.

I had a buddy back in the day who machined some nifty solid rear struts for his Sporty... They stayed on about a week and a half before he put the shocks back on. He said it was like ridin' a mini-bike down the road. (He had a regular seat- not a spring seat).

Biggdann, do you happen to have a picture of your XL with the Lepera seat posted on the Web anywhere? I haven't been able to find any pictures of the BB LT for the '04 models. Lepera's web site only has a picture of of the pre-'04 model, and I have to believe that the seat for the '04 is a little different since the mounting holes on the '04 are further apart.

I've trying to get some pics taken but haven't had the time yet. I'll try today to take them and post as soon as possible.

Decided to wait on the spring seat. I ordered a seat off E-bay, custom seat, low profile and looks pretty cool, I will let you know how it turns out. I still have the spring seat in the back of my head

That LaPera Barebones looks good. How is it on comfort? Personally I'm waiting for Lazyboy to start designing motorcycle seats.

That LePera seat looks great. Do they have an online store?

The seat is feels pretty good. The longest i've ridden so far is just 40 miles, but it felt good. I got the seat off of e-bay from American Classic Motors. It was $173 to my door.
