… and it’s called a Vulcan!!!
2006 Kawasaki Vulcan 750 with only 2,000 miles on it… Just delivered yesterday.
Dad got his motorcycle license and MSF Certification this past summer at the tender age of 63. He’s been shopping for a bike for several months now, and finally found something he was happy with.
Now I really can’t wait until next spring! http://i210.photobucket.com/albums/bb223/tablesarecool/thsmileysCA0VH8EQ.gif
I think it all started Labor Day Weekend last year, you can read about it here:

On an unrelated note...the Vulcan is a FINE bike...
Hope he enjoys it!
snowman 9th November 2007, 19:54 Nice ride!!!!! Just make sure to ride a little behind him so you don't make that new Vulcan look bad with that customized chopper thing that you built...:roflblack:roflblack:roflblack

I like your avatar Clarinetcat,
mtlhed 9th November 2007, 20:00 That's a nice looking bike. Looks real clean. Ya'll won't make it until Spring. I see you both riding together even in sub zero temperature, as long as there's no snow or ice.

Yeah it does look like a nice ride, I'm happy for him... over the phone he sounds like a little kid on Christmas morning!
When we finally ride together, I'll try not to upstage him too much with my custom chopper bobber. :D
emzdogz 9th November 2007, 20:04 Vulcan is a really great bike! Wishing your Dad tons o'fun. And no speeding tickets!
:)

I'd be all for that, except for the 300 miles between us...
It'd be challenging to get our bikes together until early spring. :o
emzdogz 9th November 2007, 20:06 when I bought my 1st XL, several years ago, my Dad bought one too, at the same time. It was fun!
(he didn't keep it long tho)
Moved On / My Own Choice 9th November 2007, 20:08 Not my cup o' tea - but glad for him and it looks like a damn clean ride...

Yup... very clean and well kept.
The cast wheels are probably be easier to maintain (and somewhat safer) than spokes, and he really wanted shaft drive for low maintenence. Dual front discs are also a plus in my book. Thanks, Kev. ;)

Yup, 2006 was the last year for this model if I'm not mistaken, and it really hadn't changed much since...
Ummm... since probably the 80's. :laugh
Moved On / My Own Choice 9th November 2007, 20:21 Yup, shaft is cool too... ought to be a great ride for him!
sportysrock 9th November 2007, 20:29 Nice bike. My bro had a new one in '03(?) but it wasn't big enough for him and his wife so they went to a bigger Vulcan.

humpbackbob 9th November 2007, 21:06 My eighteen year old Daughter got her first bike this Summer, an 883L. We have been closer this year than since she was a little girl. I know you will enjoy time spent with the "Old Man" more than ever. That's great.
snowman 9th November 2007, 21:36 Ok, so what kinda' "accessories" you gonna get him for Christmas to customize this bad boy???????? :banana:banana:banana

Probably just money and a JPCycles Catalog... :D
That way, he can order the parts he likes to create his own custom.

Excellent!!! :clap :clap :clap Good for your dad (and you). I went through a similar experience last year myself. I am a couple years senior to your dad, and I'd ridden before (in the 70s and 80s), but it was about in August of 2006, I made up my mind to get another bike and this time it would be a Harley.
I got my bike a year ago today, and a few minutes ago, I just came in from a little "anniversary" ride. It was only 50 deg. out today, but sunny, so I warmed it up a little with some miles around town and a few miles just outside of town. I've been having a blast with this bike ever since getting it, and I know your dad will to.
Neither of my two daughters will be riding with me, but I think it is great that you will be riding with your dad. Tell him for me (as one old geezer to another).... it's never too late to get out on the open road and do a little riding. He will have a blast. :tour

A logical choice ~ at least according to this guy!
That's great. Can't wait until spring!
Roadster_Rider 10th November 2007, 00:43 It looks... dated.
I looked at it and thought it was a well taken care of 80's bike.
Still, it ought to be fun :)
johnnybgood 10th November 2007, 01:28 Congrats to your Dad. I owned a '94 Vulcan 750 and it was a decent enough bike.
Cool looking engines if your into water pumps, lol.

Interesting to see the longevity of that design, eh?
The pipes both went to the right side back then?

No, those are aftermarket pipes that were on the bike when I bought it used.
