View Full Version : Anyone try "The Best MC Glasses"??

Just wondering if anyone has given these a try.

www.thebestmcglasses.com

They are a sponsor on another forum and get alot of praise. But getting an answer on that forum to anything is next to impossible. If anyone has which ones are the best for night riding?? The clear or amber. I have a pair similar that are a slightly mirrored clear but they are still a little dark for me. I have astigmatisim so night riding is already difficult enough. Which is why I currently try to avoid it.

I have the clear for night and mirrored for days. Couldn't be happier .

Worth the money. Good fit.

I got a pair and they are pretty good. Keep most of the air out of your eyes... probably as good as you can get without going to goggles....

The only downside is that they aren't made for fatheads like me so they are a bit tighter on the temples than I like.

I have a pair with the clear lens and I am very disappointed. They fit good and the gasket keeps most of the wind out which is good. But the downside to these glasses is the quality. After less than two hundred miles of use I noticed that a film around the outside frame is peeling off and one of the hinges is cracked. The hinge break is due to poor quality. I've never dropped the glasses and my head isn't that big, I wear a medium in most helmets.

Monstermile,

The glasses that Xena pointed out are a different brand. I got my glasses from the website you posted.

Hmmm. Wonder if you just got a bad pair. Kinda makes me leary of them now anyway. The pair I have I bought at a local apperal shop and I have had them over a year now. Only paid ten bucks and they are still holding up. I might just go pick up another pair of those in the regular clear.

I would waste another $15 on them. Try Wiley X (brand), they have lots of different styles with padding. I bought a pair of brand new pair Wiley X SG-1 glasses with two sets of lens (tinted/clear) on ebay for $30 shipped. I can't give a review yet but I've heard good things about them.

hey Guys I'm the owner of thebestMCglasses.com / biker-glasses.com --I notice a refer link in my web site stats, so I thought I'd register and pitch in and answer some questions.

in regard to the night riding glasses --lens color is a preference. If you do not live in a City I'd suggest the Amber lens glasses as they brighten up any light from a car, etc. I live in NYC so I ride with the clears since we have street lights everywhere, but again, it's preference.

regards to Creep: you must have gotten a bad pair, which I'm sorry for. I've personally been riding with the same pair of the glasses that *I* sell for the last 2 1/2 years, and I've had NO peeling, and no breakage. On my website I state that I do not accept returns, but if let me know you're having a problem, more than likely I will work something out with you. I never received a email from you or anyone else about a hinge problem --I *have* heard of the peeling problem, and it must have been a bad batch that I received and I have replaced some glasses with new ones for the guys who have let me know. CREEP--If you send the pair of glasses back I will replace them with a new pair for you (feel free to PM or email me and we'll take care of this!).

Just a note to everyone --this isn't my main business, I started this to pass along good deals to fellow bikers, because behind everything, I'm a biker like you guys, who was ready to buy wileyX or Panoptix and couldn't see spending $100+ on glasses. You can read about me on a lot of the Harley forums --I try to respond ASAP to any emails I receive and work with you to best way possible. I'm here moreso to help out, not make a ton of money. I offer alot of specials on different forums. So if you have any questions please feel free to email me.

I have the amber and they work great at dusk, But at night they dont let see much except the lights on cars, I wear clear classes at night. I just ordered clear bikersfreind glasses and another set of tinted ones, I think they fit me great and you cant beat the $15 price. The only thing I dont like is they look a little big on my face without having a helmet on, Look great with a helmet.

Hey Tekman, that's what I call good service! Much better than another certain seller on ebay that recently posted here....I won't mention names, no point in getting that going again. I'll come over to your website and check out what you got, I need another set of glasses. :)

I want some of those new fangled glasses where the tint changes depending on how bright it is outside. I don't like having an 2nd pair of glasses in the saddlebag- even in a case, the lenses get scratched and the hinge screws vibrate out. Does anyone know of some good photo sensetive riding glasses?

I bought a pair of Wiley X on ebay for around 20 bucks. Came with dark lenses and clear lenses, regular temple arms and a google like strap.
I love em but they are a pain to keep changing the lenses so I bought another 7 dollar pair of crap for the nights.
Works ok for me.

I also have 2 pair of the the best....smoked and amber. for $15 I LOVE MY GLASSES!!! Block out lots of wind, work great with helmet, and clean up nicely when I get bug guts all over, great product for the price and would not hesitate to buy them every 6 months if I had to. Thankfully, I won't have to, the quality is great.

Ian-would love to get a pair of photochromatic lenses!! Hope you can work something out with your suppliers.

I was like most of you, in that I couldn't justify spending $200 on a nice pair of riding glasses. Well, besides the hassle of having to time the sunset, and take two pair of glasses with me- I just was never happy with the quality/fit/finish of any of the glasses I tried. I probably spent over 100 bucks on multiple different riding glasses, and still wasn't happy. Well, I decided to buy a $200 pair of Panoptx. Couldn't be happier. No more need to time the sunset, or take along extra glasses. They also keep most of the wind and dust out, and they fit and look great. In my quest to save money, I actually spent more than if I had just bought the right thing to begin with.

Just my .02...

I bought a set from Performance Eyewear at my local dealer...$50.00 for the lenses that change ......pretty good price, I think...

I bought their standard set (with interchangeable lenses) last year, and the wife is STILL using those...

What's better, is that if I have a problem with a lens, they replace them for me....nice deal.....

The only downside I see is that they don't get "dark"...not REALLY dark...BUT, I have blue eyes (and thusly am more sensitive to bright light) and they have worked well enough that I haven't had to squint...even when driving into the setting sun.....

Tekman, I like your style, stick me down for two pairs! Oh, before I buy, is there any give in the frames? I too am a fathead, and I just measured temple to temple (not very scientifically, I might add), and I'm coming up with 5 1/2", is it too much strain? Do you ship to the old world? :clap (any idea when the transitionals are coming?) :tour

tekman
17th August 2005, 21:19
:D ---there's definitely give, the glasses are flexible and I've actually had people use a heat source, either a hair dryer or heat gun and "shape" the glasses to their heads. I think I've mentioned I have a big head (1st or 2nd snap on a baseball cap) and haven't had a problem at all with the glasses, I honestly do not ride w/o them. My friend bought a bike recently and after taking it for a spin can't believe how I've ever rode w/o them in the past.

oh, and I ship anywhere. :)

Transitionals should be sometime soon, I'll keep everyone updated.

I am another satisfied customer of these "Best" glasses. They do a good job of keeping the wind out of your eyes (even at 125 mph with no windshield of any kind), and the smoked color is perfect for the bright Arizona sun. The lenses do not cause distortion and fogging don't seem to be a problem.

Also bought a set of clear ones for night driving (Smoked color is just un-usable during night driving)

For 15 bucks a set delivered to the door ... these riding glasses are a great deal.

The ones I got are like these (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/TWO-PAIR-UV400-PADDED-MOTORCYCLE-RIDING-GLASSES_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ50424QQitemZ798 8997938QQrdZ1) except my frames are black.

Hey Michele, I see that Preach says they hurt his temples. I have a little bitty head, but every pair of glasses I wear with my helmet seem to cause me to have headaches, right on that muscle to the back and above my ears (as the helmet keeps them pressed against my head). Do you ever have this problem with any glasses you've worn? Anyone else? If so, have you found a pair that don't cause this?

BonRu
23rd August 2005, 22:05
I bought a pair of the Harley Davidson interchangeable lenses, and had them only about 3 months, hardly wore them because bike was in the shop, and then one day when I did wear them, one of the arms broke where the rubber end attaches to the plastic arm. Broke right off. $125. I'm taking them back, but in the mean time, I ordered two pairs of these - amber and smoke. Thanks for posting this!

Look at these Sunglasses (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Scotty-Harmon-Motorcycle-Sunglasses-Buy2-Get-2-Free_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ34284QQitemZ457020 3772QQrdZ1) on ebay. These glasses have very thin wire arms to fit underneath a helmet. I have no idea of quality, this is just something I have come across in my search for a pair of riding glasses. I have only been riding for 3 years, but have yet to find a great pair of glasses. I have seen hundreds of praises in another forum about www.thebestmcglasses.com (http://www.thebestmcglasses.com/), so I ordered a pair of clear last night. If I like these, I will order the amber and dark as well. Praises to tekman (Ian) for the great customer service. It is really nice to see that you haven't forgotten where you came from. When I receive my pair, my review will follow.

price of the glasses are $15 which INCLUDES shipping!

I mail all glasses out 3x a week (usually MON|WED|FRI) --all glasses are shipped via USPS and usually take 4-7 days. Priority Shipping is an option, which costs extra, but is 2-3 days shipping.

hey Thanks! I try to do things the way I would want them done if I was the customer. I don't do this as my main source of income, this is something on the side I started when I was about to spend $150 on Panoptix and when I came along with these I couldn't believe more people didn't know glasses could be had cheap. After mailing supplies, postage, PayPal fee's, I'm not making much on these. I just received my amber and smoke lensed BEST glasses (I ordered them the day I first read this thread; figured the price was right). I bought a pair of HD glasses, and they broke after about the 5th time wearing them while riding. So far I like these "Best" glasses. They fit really snug and comfy (and I have a very small head so generally have a hard time getting a good fit); the test will be with the helmet on. I bought a pair of amber for my boyfriend so he doesn't have to keep changing out his lenses on his other riding glasses.

I bought all 3 pairs from Ian. I mostly stick with the clear lense glasses. the smoked I've used a couple times. The Amber I'd use only on cloudy days. I used them at night, but I found that sometimes it'd get screwed up with the oncoming car headlights, since the white light turns amber with these glasses, and headlamps can look like amber turn signals out of the peripheral vision.
But the glasses are awesome. I use them on the highway and get no wind to dry up my contacts. My cousin just bout 2 pairs also.

As promised, I am back leaving some feedback on Ian's glasses. After reading over 100 reviews on these glasses, I figured that I had found the solution to my problem, which was finding a great pair of glasses. Suprisingly, I found my glasses in my mailbox 2 days after I placed the order. I pulled them out of the bag and gave them a look. These glasses are pretty sturdy, and the foam is really glued on there good. I gave them a shot yesterday on a 150 mile ride and couldn't be happier. I have definately found my solution. These glasses work teriffic and are great for the money. I stopped by the local harley shop Green Mountain Harley (http://www.greenmtnharley.com) and told them about all of the hype these glasses are getting. Ian I think I found you a couple of more customers! Thanks.

I ordered two pairs, one smoked, one clear last week. Waiting for them to come in. Right now, I'm using a pair of cheap h-d glasses I bought 3 years ago that has the foam separating form the frame. I have reattached the faom with doublesided tape a couple of times. Tired of them, plus they don't have much periphial (sp) vision. Are these "bestMCglasses" any better? For night riding, I'm using an old pair of factory safety glasses, but they are getting scratched up pretty bad. I hope they get here tomorrow, I'm supposed to go on a 200 mile ride the next day.

Any pair of glasses you have to be careful about the arms scratching--but seems a little weird to me why would the arms be bending that much in to touch the lenses? I have dozens of these glasses shipped and when I receive them none of the arms are touching the lenses...

Hey Ian-was wondering why they don't come smoked in the "B" frame????

The "B" models weren't up to par with the "A" models, so I stopped carrying them. I've had more positive remarks about the "A" then the "B" anyway, and the "A" really seem to work for everyone.

any idea on the cost of the transitions when they become available?? I have the HD glasses now, I like them, good tight fit... but I spent 110 bucks on them. I really like the idea of transitions, just ask Vegas1200 about our ride at Big Bear.... anyway, I was looking at HD's transitions that they sell, I only looked for a second (price was somewhere around 250+ if I remember correctly). If the price is reasonable, I may have to consider the transitions....

The Best MC Glasses get my seal of approval. I bought a pair at the end of last season, but never really got to try them out. (When its cold out, I buy MC stuff to keep me from jonesing too much) Anyway, I got to try them for a 100 mi run today and they are among the best glasses I've ever used. It was between 48* - 53*, and overcast. They did a good job keeping wind out of my eyes while still letting my eyeballs breath. I wear contacts, so too much wind is a real pain. I'm very happy with this product. Gonna get some more!
