Howdy, I have a 2005 custom with the stage 1 and SE pipes. What could I do next if I'm willing to put some money towards more performace? What would give me the most bang for my buck?

Before you start spending money you need to decide what you want. We could all tell you stories about how we spent our money well and how we wasted other dollars. Why don't you tell us what you like to do while riding and we will then be able to better answer the question. I could spend lots of your money only to find out you wanted something else. Be specific about ride style and what you are trying to achieve. Also important to know how much is budgeted for the upgrades and whether or not you can wrench or not.

Well, I'm not sure what I want. I've heard of a "Stage 2", and I've seen others with different air filters. But what I was thinking was that there may be a progression from where I am to "that's about as bad ass as a 1200 can get". I don't wrench, but I do plan on spending a couple hundred a year or so (birthday's, anaversary, Christmas, etc..), but didn't know what I could do. As far as the chroming it up stuff, oh I got a list. What what could I do for say more tourqe, as I'm a pretty big guy?

There are a million things you can do but a couple of hundred only does so much. If you have not installed a dynojet kit that is the first place I would start. I am not exactly sure what stage one is so I assume you have a screaming eagle a/c kit as well. More air is good but jet kit really peps it up in the older bikes. I have no clue on the new ones. They have a lot more h.p. to start with then did our 90's bikes.

The most bang for your buck would be Heads, then Cams!!!

My service manager said that for $1400 you can't beat installing Buell heads and cam. Of course that's after a new exhaust, breather, and proper jetting.

First off, do the Stage I mods. (air cleaner, mufflers, and rejet.) See if you like the results. After that you'll want to consider ported heads and matched pistons and a set of cams. In a perfect world cams, heads, and pistons are all matched to each other.
