Having got my first glimpse of the "factory bobber" in the new
AIM sept 05, this bike looks like it has some very good potential.
The new tranny has a 6 speed and no inspection cover and go
up to 20,000 mile service limits versus 5,000 prior. All in all it looks
like they changed the whole Dyna line for the better.
Only bad thing is it still looks like the low rider with a mate black
finish. "Bobber" i think not, could it be? yes. For $13,195 it could
be a "Bobber" with a little work.
"Bobber" and "Chopper" are the most over used words in the biking
world these days. But whatever sells.;)

Yeah I like that particular model quite a bit. I wish they kept the carburator option and one of my biggest pet peeves I wish that they would put a friggin' tach on all the their bikes. We aren't buying mini vans with automatic transmissions here, we are buying manual shifting motorcycles. WTF HD!?!?!?!?

That is a bad ass ride right there. I would of course put forward controls on it and a stage 1 with different pipes.
Don't need the 6 speed unless you are on a long run and even then, 5th is just fine. I'm keeping my 1200 but if I was to get another bike it would be this one.

I have To say I love That bike. i agree with it needs forward controls though.
I love that You can get flat black! The blacked out motor and tranny looks
freakin awesome. I sorta think It's lame though To charge That much more
For Flat Black (or black denim) than vivid black but overall It's one Of my favorite New bikes but I have yet To ride One. We'll See :)

Forward controls and some Vance & Hines Short Shots and that would be the chit. If they still make it when I decide on a BT that is tops on my list.

Yea, I love it...and as mentioned above, I would go with forwards as well. Also, a 2-up seat so the wife can go along, she loves ridin' with me. :)

but that bike just does not do much for me.

This bike would better suite my needs for only $1800
dollars more than the "street bob". My bro has a 02
lowrider and the bob looks the same except for the finish
and H-D's attempt of putting apes on a factory bike.:roflblack

I love the Street bob, not quite sure what HD was thinking by NOT putting forward controls on it. The Street glide is absolutely beautiful......that will be my next bike when I win the lottery. Ideally I would love to keep the sporty and by that.

I'm with ya Tony,it's ok I guess but that 35th anniversary Superglide is the one that turns my crank.
The Bob is geared at the old school fad currently happening I guess but that 35th special is pure class! :D

I was the first one to say this on the forums after the 06 models were released, and I feel I should say it again: THAT BIKE IS SEXY!

Hi.
Columbia Motors in Vancouver Washington has a deep cobalt blue one, And I got top play a bit with it.
First off, it is a hell of alot better in person, the pictures just don't do it justice.
The 49mm forks really set off the stance, and I think it would handle better then a regular Dyna. The Apes put my hands right level with my shoulders, a very low seat amd the bike just feels almost as good as a Sportster.
BTW, it's on special for 14,825.95 out the door.
Almost traded my Sporty right then.

From what I have heard the Black Denim finish is supposed to change colors over time getting a worn denim look to it.

3rd August 2005, 16:01
I guess it's OK.
I'd swap it back to a carbeuretor, then replace the spoked wheels with mags (I hate tubes).
I'd also like to replace the stock bars with higher ones, maybe 16 inchers, cut down the rear fender above the taillight and ditch the front fender and mirrors. Of course, then I'd have to relocate the taillight and tag to the side.
I'd also switch to a sprung solo seat.
Then I'd shorten and black out the exhaust....
AND add some fork gaiters.
I'd change the stock tires to wide whites and powdercoat the wheels,bars, inspection cover....
OH WAIT! ...
I ALREADY have a bike like that! But it's lighter, sleeker, and faster! Guess I'll be keeping it! :laugh :tour :laugh :tour

For not being the fastest color (black) I like the color of your bike in the picture. Have some kids steal the reflectors off of your forks and it is sweet...
Now for the Bob, haven't seen one in person but I personally would take my money and customize the Sportster or Dyna and make my own version of a real Bob. I like the style of a Bobber but don't really think that the MOCO has done it right w/ this . Just my opion and I think if you like it then buy and more importantly,,,,,,ride it. :tour :tour

I want it in vivid black, change out the pipes and switch to a set of forward controls and let's boogy. I sat on one at California Harley Davidson (black denim) and she felt real REAL nice. Not heavy at all, low center of gravity and bar height was comfy at the shoulders. The problem?
$13,975.00 MSRP
$ 2,000.00 Tax & License
$ 250.00 Freight & set up
$ 150.00 EFI
$ 200.00 Security system
$16,575.00 Total out the door....
I rounded out some of the numbers and maybe a dollar or two off in others but that is damn close to what it will run you out the door. Not including Stage 1 and pipes...
BTW: They had 2 05 Super Glide Customs and an 05 Lowrider and they were still at 15,800 MSRP...
Crazy...I'm loving my Black 05 1200 Custom WHICH IS PAID FOR!!!!

I think that is a fine looking bike. No s**t. Just not for me. I like the trim look of a Sporty...always have...always will. I don't discriminate...some of my best friends(and bandmates) ride big twins... :D
