Are you going to ride around Fla a little? From Wilm
to Fla is only 300 miles. I rode to Bike Week in
Daytona and it's only 475 miles from your location.
The ride is about 8 1/2 hrs to Daytona in a car
nonstop.
From Wilm to Key West you are looking at fourteen
hours and thats hauling ass in a car. :yikes

Come spring I intend to do the 1500 in 36 hrs but if I poop out, I'll settle for the 1000 in 24.

Come spring, I plan on trying to get from Amarillo to The Alamo and back in 24 hrs. My route and fuel stops are on paper, just waiting for the weather to warm up and to find a convenient time after it does.
willprevale,
I was thinking about the same thing. With the chance to get a couple of hours of sleep I think it might be just as easy to do 1500/36 as 1000/24.

I have checked on mapquest and the distance from here to Jacksonville, FLA is just under 500 miles, so if I go a little longer way, I could do the 1000 in 24. I have done 600 miles in 24 on my sporty before, so the additional 500 wouldn't be the problem, its doing the 500 the day after the 1000 that I'm not sure about. I know alot of the people that have done these rides do it on beemers, just wondered if anyone else had thought about it on a Sporty.

Pilot,
I did an Iron Butt SaddleSore 1000 run back in 2003, but I never sent in my paperwork. My friend Doug did the BunBurner 1500 Gold (1,500 in 24 hrs) on his Sportster 1200.

I have done 1000 but that was in a 3 day period(fri-Sat-Sun) and never left the state(NC) and it was not fun on Monday, but it was a great weekend. But get this, never made it to the coast... Keep meaning to ride to Wilmington, but always ends up being a family getaway that requires a car/Truck
