Hey folks, I know some of you play guitar, so you might be interested in my Keith Richards "Micawber (http://www.tdpri.com/forum/tele-home-depot/270572-micawber-build.html)" build over at another forum I use.

Excellent. I've thought about doing something similar but scoring like a mexican body and using a reissue neck.

Yeah I thought of all different ways of doing it, but I wanted pure nitro finish so that would mean completely stripping a body and neck. When all is said and done it will be about $520 in parts, not including my labor, and that's well over 20 hours. I could have purchased a brand new MiM.
More to come, bridge should be here at any moment, and the rest of the parts by Thursday/Friday.
Stay tuned

I've been a member over there for a few years too, built a couple of Teles and Strats myself. Use the name worn there also, my avatar is a Pinecaster I built a few years ago, but long gone to make room for the next project. The last Strat I built, I left the fretboard raw and when it starts to get to be "too" worn looking, I'll give it a squirt of lacquer just to seal it when I change strings, very natural looking wear. My current Tele is left in open G for slide, Stones, Black Crowes etc. The 6th string doesn't bother me at all!
I like your build, the body color is dead on.
You either love or hate relics...I really like them when they look authentic.

That's a great idea with the lacquer after it's worn in. 6th string don't bother be at all either

Why still 6 strings?

Why still 6 strings?
Cause it wont be an exclusively open G guitar like Keiths is.

A tele, sportster, keef, stones fan for years. They all roll together nicely. But if you really want keef tone you have to do the open tuning -1 string. I don' t have the funds for a twin but my DRRI with a Les Louis comes close. Right now I'm a 1200r -1 engine and it doesn't sound the same.
