Went down to the local Stealer this morning looking for a helmet lock for my Sporty. I saw the one H-D makes and it is this big, halfround chunky chrome thingie with no installation directions. Does anyone know what this mounts to? Or does anyone know of a good after market helmet lock?

Any tube that is 1" round. I bought one years ago to mount to a Honda Spirit I had but it would not fit. I have seen it mounted on the handle bar. I have not been able to find a spot on my 2004 to mount it to. I think I paid $17.95 for it. It sits here on my desk still in the package.

I had mine mounted on the frame up front and it worked fine. It has been removed and sits in my spare parts box. I never used it.

Here's one that fits on the license bracket for two helmets seems practical

I mounted mine to the frame just below the seat on my 03 Hugger. It was kind of a pain in the ass to get mounted right, but it works ok. Living out here in Vegas there are just too many places where you have to do something with it if you expect it to be there when you get back. Good luck!

Instead of a helmet lock I bought a retractable bicycle lock and it works very well. I just keep it in my saddlebags or coat packet and use when needed.

It is nice because it is light weight and the thin cable retracts into the housing. It can also be used anywhere on the bike.

You can find one in a bicycle shop.

I use a ski lock. Place your helmet on the handgrip and run the cable through the helmet's buckle and through the triple-tree or around a fork tube. The lock fits easily into my pocket when not in use. The cable can probably be cut fairly easily ... but, if they want my helmet that badly, they can have it.

I use a long shackale (?) Master lock on the the steering head, I tread the helmet thru the forks and pass the lock thru the d rings of the helmet. So far it has worked for me.

The 2004 - 2005 Sportster frames are bigger. The HD lock will not fit the Sporty, but it will fit the Dyna and Soft Tail.
