Ralphthe3rd 22nd November 2007, 01:02 SUPERTRAPP ANNOUNCES NEW SPORTSTER 2 INTO 2 XR STYLE SYSTEM
From Supertrapp website:
SuperTrapp Industries introduces the new Sportster 2 into 2 XR System now available for Harley-Davidson XLH883-1200 '04-08 models.

This tunable SuperTrapp 2 into 2 system is the offspring of our flat track racing systems. It allows a rider to bolt on a 10% horsepower increase to their stock 883 model and over 20% horsepower gains on a stock 1200. The Sportster 2 into 2 XR Style System features brushed stainless steel head pipes and megaphones.
The megaphone design allows the exhaust gas to expand, which increases power while the discs allow the rider to control how much flow they want.
It has 02 sensor ports installed to utilize stock sensors on fuel injected models and also includes plugs for the ports when used on carbureted models.
The Sportster 2 into 2 XR Style System is equipped with a completely rebuildable core and packing to save riders time and money. Optional open end caps are available for closed course competition.
SuperTrapp's tunable disc technology allows riders to add 4" discs to increase horsepower, exhaust tone and flow, or riders can remove 4" discs to reduce sound and increase low-end torque. The 2 into 2 system comes with twenty-four 4" discs allowing the rider to utilize twelve discs in each muffler. Additional discs are sold separately.
For ultimate durability, the exhaust system bracket is mounted to the transmission allowing it to move with the rubber-mounted motor.
These are also available as a Universal to fit unique applications. For more information on these and other SuperTrapp products, visit www.SuperTrapp.com.
Part #815-71202 MSRP $795.00
spatial.hd 22nd November 2007, 01:41 Sweet.....
XL 50 22nd November 2007, 01:46 Looks like a leg burner for my wife.
Folkie 22nd November 2007, 02:00 How do you fit saddlebags? :p
Donz5oh 22nd November 2007, 07:14 Instead of sweeping those pipes up to burn legs or bags, they should have lowered the trapps. Looks cool, just not practicle for anything I would use.

:laugh They're pipes styled after those of an XR750 dirt track bike- how much practicality do you want? I think you'd be happier with V&H shortshots if practical is your thing.
Oh, and do I see forward controls in that pic? With XR exhaust? For shame Supertrapp. FOR SHAME!

I don't care what they are styled after, if they want to sell them to people like me who rides everyday and uses if for more than short weekend jaunts, they need to alter the design to accomdate bags and bitches.
I like the tunable aspect of it and the back pipe design, but raising it up into a passengers legs don't make any sense. Is there some design consideration that I am unaware of, or that someone else has insight on, for this particular system? Or, did they just say screw daily riders with passengers, this design looks cool so we'll stick with it? Thats an honest question, BTW, not trying to be a prick. I wonder if that was honestly their thinking.
Kevyn 22nd November 2007, 09:45 Very nice. A quick trip to Jet-Hot for some ceramic coating and it's good to go! Wish they'd released these about a month earlier...
Thanks for the news Ralph.
jack82 22nd November 2007, 10:15 Wish they made the old style 2 into 1 for the rubbermounts.......
I'd buy one in a flash......uuhhmmm.............If I still had my roadster......:doh

The high exhaust is for ground clearance. Look up the scambler bikes of the 60's like Triumph, Norton, BSA and such. You will see they had high pipes for off road applications. The XR750 has the pipes mounted up high because they are on the left hand side and need the clearance. When there was a Sportster only road race series the pipes gave ground clearance for right hand turns.
Considering there isn't a racing series for the rubber mount Sporties then it's only a look to build street trackers.
They are one of the best performing pipes for a Sportster but you are correct they suck for passengers and saddlebags. If you only want a solo seat around town screamer they may be the right pipe for you. Also they sound great.
nemosengineer@yahoo.com 22nd November 2007, 21:42 I like um and they sound so good, leave the ladies and luggage at home. If you cant strap it to the fender, you brought too much stuff.:p

I don't think they're worried about selling these pipes to people like you; they're after the people that wanna use their Sportster for what they were originally made for, Sport riding.
They do make pipes that should appeal to the bitch and bag haulers that have the same tunable mufflers on them and are low enough that you'll burn a leg. I've got a set on my Electra glide that not only look and sound great but also perform well.

I guess we all buy Sporties for different reasons, I just use mine as a day to day rider thats why I need the carry space. I wish I could afford to buy one just for hot rodding, it would make those Mt. Lemmon trips alot funner. I do like the 2 in 1 alot I just wish it wasn't so dang expensive. I spent less than that getting a Borla off road setup for my Mustang.:doh
Frenchie 23rd January 2008, 00:05 Am I the only one thinking that this "thing" is ugly ??
Ralphthe3rd 23rd January 2008, 00:12 The idea is, they are one part of building a streettracker, and if you look at the whole package, you'll see that it is THE look, that people wanting an XR styled Street tracker are after. Just adding the Storz XR seat/tail to the '04-'08 XL with high pipes is a great combo.
http://www.storzperf.com/images/np_streettracker2.jpg
Btw- this is Exactly what I want to do to MY '07 883R, I want the seat, pipes and forks.
Am I the only one thinking that this "thing" is ugly ??
Rags 13th March 2008, 03:25 Careful of the SuperTrapp exhausts. They are stainless and tunable but don't have heat shields. After just riding 300 miles on my new XR like bike, I can tell you you need heat shields (Storz has 'em)
gwcrim 13th March 2008, 14:32 Am I the only one thinking that this "thing" is ugly ??
That depends on if you like bikes like mine. There's no room, need, or desire for bags or bitches on it. That's why I also have a bagger. This baby is for clipping apexes at a high rate of speed and lofting the front tire at will.

Kevyn 14th March 2008, 08:40 Nice work Crim. Looks like a helluva fine ride.
chieftd 17th March 2008, 01:49 these style of bikes are a kick in the ass to ride. :) If you notice the thin ribs on each pipe, they work great as heat shields just keepig the legs away from the pipes. Got them from Trak-Tek. The oil tank gives me more heat issues than the pipe. :)

I can't put it on my bike because of ITALIAN LAWS ..:frownthre:spank:wifemad:madtwo:headbang
Ralphthe3rd 13th April 2008, 01:27 Marylou, what about the Italian laws forbid this type exhaust system ??? I mean the Supertrapp CAN be tuned to be really quiet just by removing some discs. Is there something else with Italian Law that forbids them ???

Unfortunately YES!!
Italian laws tell that: If I would like to change exhaust system the rules are:
1) Exhaust must to be born for H-D and they have a certified that says that the exhaust are specified for this HD model for example for Sportster..
2) Exhaust must to be omologated for Italian LAWS and they have this writing: (E1, E3, E11 for example...)
3) They must to respect european pollution laws
Italians laws don't care if Supertrapp can be very quiet... I can not buy them but I can buy an exhaust system with "E" omologation iven If it is much much more louder of supertrapp...:doh
Beautiful laws! isn't it?!:doh:frownthre

Well, maybe that is a bit of a disappointment, but on the other hand...you get to ride in Tuscany! I think I'd be happy with legal pipes for that opportunity. Never been there yet myself, but EVERYONE says it is beautiful. Good food too, yes?
