Well I'm now doing my second review of a brand new exhaust in as many weeks. A buddy of mine bought my Python slip-on's and I picked up the V&H.

Fit and finish is great. Chrome is top notch as would be expected of V&H. Funny thing is with these is that they have a heat shield over the muffler instead of being a straight pipe. It is a 2" (I think) pipe surrounded by the 2 1/2" heat shield. The heat shield itself actually slides over the header pipe heat shield instead of butting up against it for a very cool tapered look. See the bottom pic.

Installation was a snap except for the heat shields which were a bit of a PITA. One word of advice. If you plan on running w/o baffels you might want to take them out beforehand. They were hard enough to get out off the bike. Can't imagine trying to get them out on.

Sound on these is some areas was a tad disappointing. I have heard the full V&H systems and they don't sound exactly like them of course. At start-up and low speeds they have an awesome growl. They are loud but not to the point of obnoxious. Opinions may vary of course. But at higher speeds they honestly are not that unique. They seem to get a little quiet. I think my Pythons were louder at high speeds. Guess it doesn't matter that much. Can't comment on how they sound with the baffels in as I left mine out to start with.

As far as performance I can't say for sure if they added or took away. It seems like it had a little more kick at lower speeds.

That about sums it up. Here are some pics for your viewing pleasure.

Well they do look good for sure. I have the full V@H pipes...Straight shots. I did not wanttogo with any slip on asI wanted to get rid of the cross over pipe (2003) I love my pipes. Look, performance and sound.

I wanted to go with the full V&H system but I have been spending way too much money on the bike lately. I'll probably get them next year. These will hold me over for now.

Nice looking Pipes I almost got the V&H Slip ons but liked the sound of the D&Ds more than the V&H Slip ons in the end they look almost identical to yours but they dont have a Heat Shield over the muffler
Both sets of pipes are nice and a major improvement over the Stock pipes

Thanks for posting. I had been toying with switching to those but now I'm going to stick with my khromewerks.

Oh, congrats though. They look good on your bike. :)

They do look nice, of all the 2-1's I've seen I like the look of the Pythons but I'm saving up for muffs or 2-1's but don't know which way I'll go yet.

since you plan on running those for about a year, while you're waiting look around for a used set. i have picked up 2 sets, both around 125-150 bucks, and they look almost new (well, that was until the wind blew my bike over :doh ) sure beats 400......
btw, the slip ons look pretty good too.

I just finished installing my V & H Straightshot slip-ons and a Ness Big Sucker stage 1 with a HD nostalgia cover. Easy install on both and I think they both keep with the look of the Roadster. Love the new sound and I like the idea that you can install an optional "quiet baffle" if it's too loud for your taste. I'll post pics as soon as I can.

actually i got one set off of the classified section here, and the other from the swap pages at sportster.org. you just have to be patient. they come up fairly regular. if you can't wait, in addition to the other sites mentioned, try cyborg cycles, and parts direct. about the same cost (200.00) but may have different shipping rates.
