After much hand-wringing and forum member harrassment I decided on the Vance and Hines Straightshot and Arlen Ness Big Sucker for my Stage 1. Installation was pretty easy on both, I spread it out over a few days after work and manged to not screw anything up (yet). I ended up going with a 45 slow jet and the N65C needle with 2 1/2 turns out on the idle mixture screw. It warms up quickly and idles right at 1000 rpm.

The exhaust note is a pretty loud hot rod growl. It's going to take a little getting used to but, I've got the option to swap out the baffles for the V & H "quiet baffles" which, they claim, knocks the noise level down 4-6 decibels.

I'm still trying to figure out how to get a movie/sound file that actually sounds like them loaded. I tried my digital but, it wasn't accurate.

They look good, and if they are anything like the full system straight shots I have, if you stay off the throttle they are not bad at all. But once you twist that grip.......all hell breaks loose! :tour :smoke

Have you tried them with and w/o baffels?? I have yet to try mine with the baffels in and I am wondering what it does to the sound and performance.

I left the baffles in because they're plenty loud for me (Grizzly is right). I'm still trying to tune in the idle mixture, I think 2 1/2 turns out me be a bit much.

Looks awesome Sour I really like the quality of the V&H stuff.

Grizzly is right, expecially at lower speeds, when you crack the throttle you better hope Johnny-Law isn't in you rear view. I went with the V&H slip-ons without the baffles, and like I've said, If you could see the shear dissapointment in the OL when I pulled in the garage - You would likely buy them yourself!

I put mine on yesterday, with the baffles. A small problem I had was that the set screw for the rear baffle was X-threaded from the factory, so I put a smleer screw through it, with a lockwasher and nut. So far it is still tight.

The sound is awesome! Just what I wanted. To me it sounds like a powerful jetboat chugging through the water on a hot day at Lake Havasu, just waiting to get past the wake zone.

I also put the Kuryakyn Twin Velocity Hypercharger on, and turned the screw out 2.5 turns. No coughing, no sputtering, and I rolled on to 110 in about three seconds. More juice than I wil ever need on an average day :D pix in my sig. :banana

I didn't rejet. I don't feel I need to. Bike runs great! I am not looking to get the fastest 1/4 mile. I took it up to 120 once, so I know I can if I ever need to. :D
