I have an 89 Sportster and will be replacing the rear brake hose. The thing is it appears to be all in one with the hose itself, is this correct.

Yup, the brake light switch is operated by brake line pressure so it's all-in-one, unlie most metrics where the brake light is operated independantly of the brake itself.
