I know there are a lot of Sporties here in the Maritimes. Not sure though how many of them read this forum. Living in Halifax. Where are you from?

I'm a little rusty on my global geography, but isn't it cold and snowy up there??
Welcome aboard and I hope you can find some more people who live up your way.

Studded tires??? Did a search on Google after my post, looks like a beautiful place.
How come it's only Southern Californians on this thread. We are the farthest away from there on this continent.

Our igloos start to melt here in July but refreeze again in August!!! Hence, a short riding season! All jokes aside, we get about 7 months in depending how hardy you are. Nice down your way lads. I'm in the navy and San Diego was like a second home when I was posted out in Victoria, B.C.

You live in a beautiful area! We spent a week and a half on Cape Breton Island last year and it was just beautiful. And you guys are the nicest people. The Cabot Trail was just made for motorcycles!

Hey Dan,

Glad to hear you enjoyed the trip! There's lots more to see so come again. If you travel the Cabot at night look out for Moose on the road!

There are all sorts of twisty back roads with very little cager traffic so do return.

Welcome Resdog to the XLF! You will surely like this place. Hope you find some people in that area to ride with. Any local bike shops? Sounds like a beautiful area while it's warm to ride. Ride safe! Watch out for the big critters!

Hey I'm in Halifax also. I don't have my sportster yet but I've been on this site all winter reading up and waiting for warmer weather. I decided I cant wait any longer so ill be heading to Privateers HD within the next week or s to order my '08 Nightster in Black. I'm a student so I will be financing most of it, I have about $4500 to throw down and I'm hoping I can get something ie jacket, helmet, forward controls haha I'm keeping the fingers crossed. Hopefully when the weathers better I'd like to go on a ride sometime or meet with some others around NS.

Hey,

I just left Privateers (had to get a new battery for the '05) and they have a Nightster there but it's orange and black which is quite nice. I think the price was $11,700. One of their sales guys mentioned they have six test bikes ready to go when the weather warms up. Awesome!!! The new XB arrives at the end of this month and I'll for sure take it out.

Have fun with your new bike once you get it!

The XB's are nice! that will be nice to ride someone else's bike too haha once we get some damn nice weather. I was also thinking of the roadster just because of price for one, dual front discs, and the 2 up option already on it, incase the girlfriend ever decides she would like to go on it. But I just can't help being so attracted to the nighster! I think I'm heading in to Privateers tomorrow after work to fill out my credit app, and see availability on a few models and work some numbers out.

Anyways, its an '06 883r, 2000km, getting the extnded warranty. approx $12000 put into bike after purchase. suspension was done, SE heads and 1200 kit installed, SE II slip ons installed and powder coated black, the rest of the pipes have header wrap. drag bars, side mounted oil pressure gauge and oil temp gauge on oil cap. Front brake upgrades and more. can't wait to get some pics up here for you guys!

Hey Altmeisner,

Welcome to the family as`they say! Sounds like your new bike had a lot of great work done to it. Did you get to take`it out for a test run? Great bike!

Now, lets hope for a decent spring!!! I went for a 60K ride on Friday and it sure felt great to get out after a long winter!

See you on the road.

Hey guys update on my bike. So I wasn't approved for credit on the used bike because I have no credit history. SO....anyways they did approve me on a brand new 1200r. This will be arriving the first week or so of April. It's coming in Vivid Black, and I'm getting some pipes and maybe drag bars thrown on along with removing heat shields on pipes and header wrapping. I'll be posting pics as soon as I take delivery!!

Not much action in Hali ever I don't find, the bike scene here is way to small...a lot of riders but not many enthusiast interested in building customs and such. I have a '72 Ironhead I'm building right now and its hard to find other home wrenching builders etc...It doesnt help that I'm younger either (23) and much of the population is much older. Ive no one I know wants to rip apart perfectly good bikes and turn them into something even better and something to call you own. Heres a pic of my progress. The engines being rebuilt right now. But I put this together in my basement this year.
heres what I started with...

I'm from halifax as well and used to be in the navy. I have a 2006 sportster (just bought it, in fact). I really liked sailing on the west coast and do believe the Canadian navy goes up the Columbia river to spawn (Portland rose festival).
