Aug 16 (Rooters)- Sarnia, Western Ontario, CANADA. In a freak motorcycle mishap in a construction zone on Western Canada's Route 402 just east of Sarnia, a passenger on a motorcycle was ejected from the bike when it struck a deep pothole and was seriously injured. The rider and driver were returning to Michigan following a motorcycle celebration in London, Ontario.

Witnesses said that the motorcycle appeared to leave the ground momentarily when it emerged from a deep rut in the road. The driver standing erect on the pegs was heard to exclaim something resembling "YaaaaHoooooooooo" as the bike left the ground, and "Holy Crap" when it touched down. The sissybar backpack, spare helmet and the small, gnomish passenger were ejected from the bike and went airborne onto the shoulder of the highway. Fortunately there was no traffic in either direction and the driver returned to administer to his fallen passenger. No damage whatsoever occurred to the motorcycle or the contents of the backpack. The motorcycle, a Harley-Davidson Sportster, is known for its rugged durability. The driver was also uninjured. A paramedic at the scene indicated that the injuries to the passenger were severe. "He has two broken legs, a busted pelvis, and he broke his pecker. Thank God he was wearing a helmet or his injuries would have been serious."

Witnesses said speed was not a factor as the bike was proceeding at the reduced rate of speed in the construction area. A breathalyzer test turned up only crumbs of Tim Horton donuts.

The driver was despondent and clearly emotionally distraught over the incident. He was incoherent and could only mumble "I'm not a gnome doctor! If it was a shark, I could have helped..."

The gnome's next of kin, residing in Germany, was notified in the early morning hours and was too emotional for this interview, though he replied in a statement released through friends of the family: "Well, I guess we will have to find a new one. I'll see what I can do to get another and we can name him WilliG Jr. Do you have photos of his accident?"

WilliG - the victim - remained semi-conscious while rescuers attended to him. He was bagged at the scene and taken to a nearby shop 200 miles away in southern Michigan where further surgery will be attempted. He had a seemingly good outlook, despite the seriousness of his injuries, and said he will prevail, even though he's only half the gnome he used to be. "I'll pick up the pieces and continue living life to its fullest" he exclaimed as he was wheeled away. "Tell them to save me a spot at the bar in TENN."

Well It is unfortunate news to hear about poor willy may he get better soon. The poor lil feller, I suppose if he had longer legs and arms he might have been able to hold on better. Now we know why those amusment park rides state you have to be "this tall to ride".
Sorry to hear about his pecker though. at least he can live to see anouthr day. Albeit in a wheelchair no doubt.

I guess this means if he makes it he will walk with a limp. A sign of a true warrior. Our thoughts and prayers are with him. We were hoping he would make it here to Las Vegas for either Bikefest in Sept or the Laughlin Run in April. I guess Bikefest is out of the question as it is too soon after the accident and he wouldn,t be up to traveling. The emotional scars from an incident like this are sometimes deep, and who knows he could "fall apart" at any time. Maybe he can " pick up the pieces" and make it through OK. If he does we'd like him to come to Vegas so we can show him a real good time in Sin City, cause what happens here stays here if you know what I mean. What better way to get over trauma than lettin it ride in Vegas.

It was all SDs fault. Willi watched animal channel and saw the nice man petting a great white on it's nose and thought it would be fun. SD tossed him...I mean helped him pet the nice shark: It was a freak accident. I got an alibi :D couple of sharks will back me up honest. they are they ones who told me the whole true story. They saw the whole thing.

Unfortunately gnome abuse and deaths is part of an ugly underbelly of american society.

The problem is you can't watch them 24 hours a day....people have tried leashes, gnome cribs, pagers, cell phones and gps ankle bracelets but nothing seems to work.

Congress crushed the Gnome Protection Act a few years ago and the problem has only gotten worse.

Education seems to be the gnomes only hope. With proper training the average person can be prepared for the challenges of accepting a gnome in to you home and life.

Let's just pray that WillieG's tragic end will be the torch to light the way for gnome survival.

Well... I suppose it's time you heard from me on this matter. I've been slammed, hated, called a killer, my knot-tying skills have been called into question. Someone changed my avatar title. It's been tough. The Prozac helps. But I keep having troubling visions of gnomes gnawing my gnads.

WilliG will PROBABLY live. He will be shorter and will need aid in transportation, to be sure, but I see no reason why he should not be out of rehab by next week in time to accompany Schmidtrock to Tenn, as scheduled. Let's think of him as scarred (terribly) but resilient!

I tried, Lord knows I tried to tie him down. But he gets antsy. And Canadian construction zones are tough (roads are a helluva lot better than Michigan, though!). As hard as this may be to believe, the ejection story was, in fact, TRUE.

KATH: WilliG goes under the band saw this evening. There may be pix, but, given your weak stomach, I'd shy away from them. And I WILL try and reattach his pecker, but John Wayne Bobbitt would probably agree that might be a waste... I was gonna try and get Shark Babe to drop by a local "Adults Only" store and see if she could find a strap-on for him, but she refused. Actually, come to think of it, she never actually SAID "No." But she waved at me when she walked away and I noticed that her palm was not facing outward and not all her fingers were erect, only one. Must be a gal thing...

I will see to Willi's replacement, if that becomes necessary. It's my duty. But I cannot leave the man behind without trying everything in my power to make him better; I have the technology and I have over 30 years of surgical experience. Well, true. It's all been on sharks. But hell. Gnomes can't be ALL that different.
