Here's an example of what diabetes during pregnancy can cause. Way to go mom. Glucose diffuses across the placenta based upon concentration. If mom's blood sugar is high (think diabetes and poor diet), so is the baby's which means elevated insulin and growth. In my opinion, this is borderline child abuse and not much different than drug abuse during pregnancy. Unfortunately, with diabetes rates skyrocketing, we'll probably be seeing more and more of this. Luckily, we Americans have the best healthcare in the world! :roflblack
