That show started a lot of guys riding. The opening scene was great with the guy in the car asking him if he was taking a trip. He says yeah and the guy asks where he's going. " Wherever I end up".Was a great line. They're trying to get the series put out on DVD.

That was a great show for its time. It starred Micheal Parks. I collect motorcycle memorabilia or 'Motormobilia' as we call it.....I have several items from 'Then Came Bronson'. One is a 33-1/3 record album with Micheal parks sitting on the Sportster on the front cover. He sings all the songs on the album and also sang the theme song on the original TV series. Another item I have is the Sportster plastic motorcycle model kit. Actually have a couple of them. The models features the motorcycle in 1/8 scale. Has everything on the bike including the blanket roll. You can find this plastic kit on e'bay. They go between $75.00-$150.00 depending on the condition of the kit and box art. Hrdly

That's some cool stuff hrdly. I had read somewhere about a possible re-issue of that model, but it didn't happen.

I remember the show. I also collect memorabilia, but none from that show. I have some old Revell plastic model kits that I bought off the dusty back shelf of some hobby shop before it went under many years ago. They're still in the original shrink wrap and on display with the rest of my stuff.

Mad Mag took that from this original broadcast! See pic below!

(Opening scene: busy city street...a harried businessman at a stoplight turns to his left, where a young man is revving his motorcycle, and asks...)

"Taking a trip?
"What's that?"
"Taking a trip."
"Yeah."
"Where to?"
"Oh, I don't know...wherever I end up, I guess."
"Pal, I wish I was you."
"Really?...well...hang in there."

The businessman smiles wistfully and nods. The light changes, and off goes the laconic motorcyclist, gunning it out of the city, toward open space and adventure. The cyclist is Jim Bronson. Although his economy of speech would not suggest it, he is freshly an ex-newspaperman.
Only a few days earlier, a friend, Nick, had lept to his death from a bridge, but not before asking Jim to buy back the motorcycle from his soon-to-be widow. Jim had originally owned and customized the bike, then sold it to Nick when he became a reporter.Bronson began thinking about the meaning of his own life. He decided to quit the rat race, simplify, see the country, visit some old friends and discover what life would put in his path. That is the premise of the 1969-70 NBC series, Then Came Bronson, starring Michael Parks

Billy, I don't know what we'd do without you but don't ever let us find out. You just revived a whole lot of fond memories. The kind that rest in the corners of our minds waiting to come alive again.

One great show. Arguably the best of it's time.

I sure like nostalgia, but the fun part of memories, is the new ones we create every day. Ever seen the look in somebodys eyes when they're next to you at a light in their cage? We're all Bronson to somebody at some time. Live the dream!!

I could always relate to the opening scene on Bronson. Many many moons ago when I was a kid working at a car dealership making a little above min. wage, lowest guy on the totem pole, my '72 Sporty my only transportation, one of our top salesman came up to me and said " Man I really envy your freedom". That brought it home to me that true success is in how you live. It's all about heart and soul.

Just for your info, if you do a web search there is a web sight that sells the "eye" decal and the series on DVD. I bought the movie and the first 6 shows. Yup brings back memories......and shows how really "slow" the action was in 1969 on TV. I could fall asleep watching it. I will buy a few more shows every once in a while in the future just ot have them. But trust me it was a lot better in memory than watchijng. The movie is still good though. It is the Euro version as the censors her cut the partial nude seen when the girl throws the ring in the ocean.

Trivia...who is the girl in the movie?

Bonnie Bedella who plays the wife on the Die Hard movies.

WELL GUYS I LIVE IN LAS VEGAS AND BACK IN THE LATE 60'S THEY CAME TO VEGAS TO FILM SEVERAL EPISODES. I WAS ON HAND AT SEVERAL LOCATIONS IN VALLEY OF FIRE, MT CHARLESTON, LAKE MEAD. THERE WAS A SCENE WHERE THE WANTED TO JUMP THE BIKE AND MOCKED UP A 250 2 STROKE HARLEY WAS SELLING TO LOOK LIKE A SPORTY. WELL IT DIDN'T LOOK THAT GREAT TO ME BUT THE WENT AHEAD AND SHOT THE SCENE ANYWAYS. THE ALSO USED THE SAME BIKE AND HAD A STUNT RIDER DRESSED AS A WOMAN RACING IT ACROSS THE DESERT. ONE OF THE STUNT GUYS WAS BUD EKINS WHO BECAME VERY WELL KNOWN LATER ON. AND YES MICHAEL LOVED TO SING. JUST FLASHING BACK !!!!!

I bet it would seem slow paced and low tech compared to todays tv, but I'm kinda slow paced too. Wouldn't mind moving to Mayberry RFD, go fishin' with Andy and Opie, hang out at Floyds barber shop, putt around town on my scoot. Wonder if Gomer and Goober have premium unleaded? :tour

Half the time I live at my house in Gun Barrel City, Texas, where life is slow and easy. Actually, after all the Andy shows I've watched, Mayberry was a lot more hopping than Gun Barrel is today. Gun Barrel highlights do include a KFC, a Pizza Hut and a Dairy Queen (wouldn't be Texas without one) which serves the best breakfast in town for $3. Got a Walmart (we call it Bloomingdales) and a Lowes and Chiles just opened up. Got an oil change station on every other corner with an auto parts store in between. Liquor and cigarette stores are abundant, and hair salons and nail shops number about even (big hair Texas girls always like to look nice).:D

* 0 rapes (0.0 per 100,000)
* 1 robbery (18.6 per 100,000)
* 5 assaults (93.0 per 100,000)
* 21 burglaries (390.8 per 100,000)
* 83 larceny counts (1544.5 per 100,000)
* 16 auto thefts (297.7 per 100,000)
* City-data.com crime index = 143.2 (higher means more crime, US average = 330.6)

Great series, I liked the slow pase as it let the stroy unfold. Beside isn't that one of the points of hitting the raod and letting life slow down from the rat race.
