Hey has anyone looked at spondon frames. http://www.gamma498.plus.com/spondon%20engineering/harleyD.htm

I am interested if anyone has seen one of these guys around, they make a sportster frame and a big twin frame I am looking at doing a build with one of these frames but want to see a completed bike first.

That’s the first time I’ve seen that, thanks for the link. I like it, go for it, post pics.

I really want to but I am having problems getting information from the frame manufacturer. I want to put the 132" motor from RB Racing in there http://www.rbracing-rsr.com/113orca.htm with a turbo and closed loop EFI and I cannot seem to get an answere of it it will fit or not. I also want to put a baker 6 speed in it. I love my sporty but I want something faster still.

I am thinking about doing a mecca twin conversion to my sporty this winter. Plus I found some wheels that weigh in at 4.5 pounds a piece with hubs that i wanna put on both bikes. Carbon fiber mmmmmmm

Stevo i see you are into racing and sport riding what do you think of that spondon build up with the RB power plant.

Spondon has been making custom streetbike and road racer frames for a long time. They also do alloy swingarms etc. They are very well known and very well respected around the euro roadrace crowd. You would be hard pressed to find a higher quality or better engineered frame from what I have seen. Of course all that beautiful bent aluminium doesn't come cheap. If your really serious about spending that kinda of money, give them a call. Better yet, send them the motor and turbo system and tell them to build the frame around it. Being an inch taller than stock will surely require a custom frame.

Good luck on your project. Be sure to post some pictures.

:) Back in the mid eighties, when I was trying to keep my 2 year old Yamaha TZ roadracer competitive at the Daytona Nationals, I used Spondon floating rotors and other trick bits long before you could get similar items on off the showroom jap and euro street rockets. Wanted one of their new aluminum TZ frames real bad, but my budget just couldn't take the hit.

Their stuff has been and continues to be top shelf!!! Many of the items that we take for granted on street bikes were marketed by Spondon to the pro racers many years ago! Back then, the exchange rate was more favorable for us in the USA, though. :frownthre

If ya got the budget it should make for one quick sled...

Spondon, as already said, is top shelf stuff.....

I see your problem with 1" extra height tho...... I'd give them a ring at Spondon....they're old school and will have no shortage of idiots wasting their time..
You'll have to talk to them to get the answers you want...

I basically want to build a bike that handles great and would scare even some of the most seasoned veterans. I want to go with the big motor and the 4 injector efi and the big turbo. i want to see them give me 350 hp at the crank.

I guess i want a pushrod wonder to race busa's with heheh

Its is possible to have a Sporty V2 in a Spondon frame. Its just not beatuiful to look at. I also checked out the Harris frame which will allow to build a much nicer V2 racer ... ;)

Dean, I am just curious what kind of budget you have for this bike. It sounds like a 12000 dollar motor and a 7000 dollar frame and a whole bunch more you will have a 30-40000$ sportster. I too am interested in seeing the final product but it sure sounds cost prohibitive. Would it not be easier to start with a buell xb12 and go from there. I know aerocharger had a turbo for sporties but that was eons ago when I saw one. This ought to be one heck of a build when it is done.

Spondon makes a Sportster and a big twin frame I am looking at doing a big twin drag motor. I have a connection with a distributor so I can do the build up myself for quite a bit less than what RB is charging.

I am looking at doing the RB Turbo and the RB closed loop EFI though. The turbo they have provides 30 psi pressure. and they have a 4 injector system. They have the biggest build up of there motor before strict track stuff that provides 350 hp at the crank which is the type of build up i am looking at doing.

I looked at an xb 12 but I want something different. I am probly looking at about 20,000 in the end for this bike with my connection maybe a little more unless of course i get wheels i want those will add a considerable tag.

I have a feeling the bike is going to be a year or two project for me and when it ends it wont be pretty as i like the flat black look fast and ugly is my thing,

There is an aerocharger on ebay right now for sale and it says retail is 3400. I can't imagine doing this kind of build for 20K. I hope you can do it but that budget might have to grow a bit. That is a lot of h.p. and those parts are gonna have to be bombproof. Can't wait to see it.

I would only be worried about trying to build a streetbike with a full out race engine. I'm sure it will be stupid fast, but a blown and injected drag engine making that kind of power in a short frame may not well suited for the street. Not sure if you'd be able to go past 1/4 throttle in top gear without ending up on your back...

In any event, it sounds like a totally extreme project. And since you have the cash and the connections to do it, I say you build our- I mean your dream bike.
