My clip-ons arrived and I was wondering if anyone had some advice before attempting it. I notice that a lot of guys will "choke up" on the forks, bring 'em higher up and just install the clip-ons above the tree. Im sure thats probably easier. Is all I have to do is unbolt the tree clamps, slide the forks down, slide on the clip-ons and bolt back up?

What do you think, above or below the tree?

By the way, how thick is your clip-ons where the handlebars slide thru? Mine seem a little wimpy, Ill post a photo after lunch.

Thanks for your input ahead of time.

I set my Clip-ons up below the top tree for a more aggressive stance. The thinnest part of the clamps for the bars are about 1/8", they've proved themselves to me that they're strong enough: About 2 years back a car pulled out cutting me off, which to make a long story short resulted in my bike laying on it's side...the clip-ons saved the day and kept the body work from hitting the pavement!
