I got a gasket kit from my local stealer (was wrong...gave me fore a 1340). The bottom cover gasket was steel, and looks much stronger than the paper one that was on my motor and blew out. Any experience with steel gaskets? Do they leak any??? Just wondering if I'll be changing the gaskets again inthe future (or until I do the 1200).

My bike blew its front 'paper' gasket at under 4,000 miles from new. The replacement, which was still is fine and I've nearly done 20,000. So I recon they are better.

G'day

the new metal types are very good gaskets...Last for ages..

HD gaskets are made by Cometic to my knowledge.

James also does good cylinder base gaskets...I use them on my bike..

Stevo, Once again, you taught me something new today. I had no idea that Cometics made the HD gaskets.

The new metals HD ones work great.
