I will order the timing rotor(already broke a couple) and the pushrod bases. I am not sure if performance upgrades are what I need. I really need my bike tuned by someone other than myself. I have all the hardware and now I just need the knowhow to get it right. I had my heads work while I was in Germany. They were milled .050 and ported, 5 angle grind with titanium high speed valves, n8's, crane hi4, s&s and cylinders bored .040 (that yields 1250 cc) and a thunderheader. My bike pulls wheelies in first and second with the twist of the throttle but I believe there are atlest 5 more hp with the bike tuned correctly. Maybe one day I will finally break down and pay for the dyno tune.

Anyone out there tried out the S&S hot 89 kit with 10.5 to 1 for their sporty. That is supposed to yield way over 100 h.p.

I've thought about those XB Heads a lot but for now I'm keeping my Thunderstorms. They'll do a fine job with that 88" kit from Nallin's while keeping the cost down. http://xlforum.net/forums/images/smilies/biggrin.gif

Does Nallins use 883 heads or 1200 for there mods. I read at headquarters that the 883 was a better starting point since there was more that could be done with the extra material. Also thought 775 for a total head overhaul was not that bad a price. I remember reading one year that they dominated the dyno with their headwork. It was on a low rider that had way over 100 hp with very minimum changes except for the heads and some really good tuning.

Gyahmers, how does getting the cases bored keep costs down. Do you do your own machining?

Hey there Ralph. Actually I was talking about not having to buy new heads for the conversion. As far a boring the cases goes a buddy of mine has a machine shop in Long Beach, Ca. and he'll do the machining for a couple hundred dollars.

Those are great buddies to have. I am guessing that you do all the wrenching yourself. That saves a lot of money as well. I chose to a rebuild several years back and still wish I had the hot 89 kit put in. I had lots of moeny as a single man in those days and should have gone for it. I now know that would have been the ultimate sleeper medicine. I will have to live with my 80 or so HP version of my 93 1200. It is plenty fast enough and rarely lets me down. Good luck with the project. That will probably be 1200 dollars well spent. Later.

They can use the 883 or 1200 heads. But according to Justin the XB's are a heck of a lot better heads then the 883 or 1200 heads, even when used Stock!!! The XB's are more of a Bathtub type Chamber and are better suited for high HP and TQ... The 883's are good heads, but with all the work done to them you still don't get the results of a Stage two XB Head..

I could tell by looking at the xb heads that they look a lot like a hemi and that should mean good things.

Yes, It Does!!!

I looked into having my 883 heads done, but after I looked at the work to be done on them to make them look like the XB's Chamber I found that I could saved about $200.00 and buy a set of New XB's from Nallin's and then Later if I want go with a Stage 2 or 3 head Job I can also Keep the Same Pistons!!!

Am I retarded? the Zippers site says there's a link on the homepage for a price list but I can't find it. Is it really there somewhere?

It says to download the price list. I did not try it because I don't need it right now but that is what it says. I checked out the super evo xl1200 kit. something to consider but probably not cheap.

TX -

Keep us posted on the 1250 kit with the XB heads. That's what I'm looking at, too. I'm about a year away fron it but would love to know your results.

For some reason I can never get to the page on nallin's site to see the engine kits - when I click on the link it does nothing... anyone have a direct link to the 883->1220 kits?

Thanks!
