This is my first street bike and I absolutely love it. I don't regret my choice for a second. Now if only the woman would learn to ride.
hero 1st January 2005, 22:28 Bitchin' ! :clap
hero 1st January 2005, 22:29 ...forgot to ask- looks like you got extended fork tubes on there too. What's the ride quality like? Any handling issues?
xl1200r 1st January 2005, 22:42 That si truely a sick looking bike. I love the black, and the guage placemnet is trick as hell. I love to see people do custom thigs with the old parts rather than buy all new ones. That is truely unique.
NYSPORTY 1st January 2005, 23:04 Bike looks good I'm putting dyna front end on my 2001 xl custom aslo lowering it 2 inches in the rear with a 3 degree rake and new triple trees also new gas tank as well i cant wait to finish i should have pics end of feb or middle of march can't wait also new paint check my picture right now it has the old pipes

txsporty 2nd January 2005, 00:00 NICE Looking Scoot!!! :D
ed_in_az 2nd January 2005, 00:19 BEAUTIFUL! I've got an '05 883 on order for February, with a box of add-ons to be waiting for me too. But I still can't decide on pipes. I don't want too much racket making my hearing any worse, but I love those Pro Streets.
I've got to ask, how loud are the Bassani's compared to SEIIs???
Saltydog 2nd January 2005, 00:45 Nice bike. How difficult was it to put that air intake on, it looks really cool. I have to budget that into my upgrades. Also how loud are the pipes. I am looking for ideas for my bike that I pick up next month. Thanks. Mike
69 A-Body 2nd January 2005, 00:57 Just got back from riding. I had an EPPD pull up next to me on his bike and point me to the side of the road. Damitt, what'd I do? Turned out he was a proud sporty owner himself and he just wanted to get a closer look at the scoot. Kinda weird getting pulled over to show off.
Hero, the ride isn't too bad. It does handle different though. It doesn't seem as responsive at speed, more gradual. Close turns are tougher as well. If the turn is too tight like in a parking lot or somewhere I usually end up walking it back a bit first. I wouldn't want to do the S turns we did in the MSF course with it. Nothing that would make me want to put the stock forks back on though, just takes getting used too.
The gauges also took getting used to looking at. They vibrate more at speed, almost like the mirrors
Ed I don't think that the Bassani's are bad, louder yes, but not bad. It's just fine when I'm cruising but you surely notice when you get on it.
Once again, I apologize for the lousy pics, I'll post better ones when I get them.
black051200 2nd January 2005, 01:07 nice scoot
Benetampa 2nd January 2005, 01:23 A-body, that looks great. I've been toying with the idea of an inch-for-inch rake; similar to yours, but without the raked trees. What length fork extentions did you use to keep your trail intact? Man that looks sweet!
hero 2nd January 2005, 16:21 Yeah, I too would like to work out what sorta trail you are running there.. ;) You guys in the States are lucky to have such wide roads. As I'm using my bike for daily transport, there's NO WAY I'd get away with such a setup on these narrow streets that were originaly designed for horsecarts in the Victorian era... :frownthre Looks the part though!
PookaDad 2nd January 2005, 16:31 Pretty, very pretty! Next time you get some pictures of it do you suppose you could get a good looking lady to drape all over it like they do in the professional rags?
harleymanjay04 2nd January 2005, 22:01 69 a-body.can u give me some more info on the frontend. was it a bolton kit or did you have some framework done.i love the way it looks. maybe you can give me some p#'s of the forks and tripples? thanks
jay.
hero 5th January 2005, 23:29 What length fork tubes did you use, 69 A-Body ?
Desertfox 6th January 2005, 00:08 Sweet scoot dood. Dittos on the guage placement. Very original. But if the bike ever suffers a tip over you can plan on getting new ones.
69 A-Body 7th January 2005, 18:47 Been outta the loop for awhile trying to get everything ready to move the family to Houston. I'm going to go take more/better pics this weekend. The biggest reason I haven't taken anymore pics is because the bike was actually tipped over a week or so ago. The wife is learning to ride and she got a little cocky. She came to a stop and forgot to pull in the clutch. The bike jumped on her and over to the left it went. Surprisingly there wasn't any damage to the gauges or TT's as you might think. The only damage was to the clutch lever, snapped the ball off the end. I should have the new lever back on today or tomorrow. I’ll post new pics with all the info as soon as I’m done. Later
bplinson 7th January 2005, 19:02 Hey 69 A-Body (Chief),
Great looking bike. Sorry to hear about that accident but glad that your wife is okay.
BTW - Did you tell the cop about The XL Forum?!?!?!?!!!
