All the harley guys in my unit hate Buells, all the Sport bike guys do as well, saying it need a fairing..blahblahblah. If I was going to get a sport bike, it would be a Buell. I will have to find that article...thanks

You gotta ride one, Griz...
The last time I was on an XB- Buell, I was riding a 1200 Lightning at a dealer demo ride at the Firebird West track. I was up in front of the line of bikes, and the ride leader told me to let the "sportbikes" in front. So I was behind a VFR800 Interceptor, R6, GSXR750, and CBR1000RR  . I said (quietly, he didn't hear me) "That's okay, I'll just pass 'em before the straight." heh.
We get let out onto the course, and I notice that the "sportbikes" are riding really conservatively. They're all late-brakers, so I figured that the best way to get some open real estate was to take a totally different line (the only passing allowed on the demo runs is on the straightaway).
On the corner before the long straightaway, when the 4 bikes in front of me are braking late and running in deep, I braked real early and ran in close to the inside of the sharp left-hander. Didn't even scrape a peg, but I did get the front end a little bit off the ground coming out of the corner. And of course, I gave the bikes I passed a wide berth--it was a demo ride, not a race.
So much for the "sportbikes". :roflblack
And the mighty CBR1000RR didn't even touch me on the straight.
I asked the dude from the H-D dealer if he saw me pass all the sportbikes and he said "Yep." and was grinning from ear-to-ear.
An 88" Firebolt would be SOOOOO much fun on track days....
